I took my shutters off my 17 and 22. Partly because I wanted the room for the intercooler. And partly because they made little to no difference for gas milage.

You mentioned swapping to 180 thermostat? I could be wrong but I think the stock thermostat is already like 180* Typically people will drop down to a 170, or 160. 170 seems to be the sweet spot. I went down to 160* personally.
I have no idea if the oem thermostat is a 180, 195, 210 unit.

Most newer vehicles are 195 and up from what I've seen.

That wasn't the ones that you had to remove the motor mount on the driver side and jack it up to replace the plugs on that side was it? Those were a pain.

Yes thats the car, at least with manifolds you had to. I was able to do plugs in 55 minutes with no busted knuckles. Practice I guess. Headers provided different challenges like burnt wires or sparkplug boots.

Tune has been ordered. 93/E85 tune. Grill shutters to open at 170'f, Full fans at 195f'. Adding a 170' thermostat as well.

I am super excited for this, especially the E85 tune & what the car will end up feeling like.

I can tell you one thing that it’s not only going to feel like, but will become a reality and that is, more frequent trips to the gas station, lol.

That’s okay though, because the clean/cool fuel burn and performance increase will
easily justify those extra fuel stops.

Oh yeah, I'm aware of that fact.
The car is a toy, driven mostly locally & its the first vehicle I've had where I don't even log the MPG'S. If I ever road trip it, I'll just flash it back to 93. I am a bit concerned about changing fuel blends. Running the tank down to empty before refilling and refueling. I think I'll carry a small 2 gallon fuel can when I swap tunes.

E85 test kit is on order as well.

Does your tuner do flex tunes? That makes it real easy.

It was not offered on the website. I will probably run E85 for the most part deal with the limited range.

a Chevy Monza really? Well this time it's a Mustang. ;)
A Monza weighs about 1,000 pounds less than our beasts. Any kind of decent V8 would be awesome in one.

It was actually more heavy than you would think. 3100 lbs. It had dead gears(open rear 2.29 ratio) and a 205/60/13 tire. I used to get almost 60mph out of first gear alone (TH350 trans) and a 100' stripe painted on the street on the 1-2 shift.
