Finally getting a 8.50 cage and Fire Suppression system put in the car. Definitely got our work cut out in removing weight to offset what’s being added.

No, my money tree ain’t that big. I spend what my budget allows every year. Probably stay NA for the next 2 seasons then possibly ESS. We’re gonna get pretty aggressive in weight reduction and a different cam package.

The car is legal to run 9.0 @under 150 mph without a cage. You put in a cage to run 8.50s? You later said you'd do boost in two years? I'm confused.

I know what it’s legal to run without a cage. I’m putting a cage and Racetech seat in for my safety and my son’s safety. Most people only add safety when it’s required….i add safety because it’s always a priority.

Are you going to do a wire tuck since you have the entire dash outside car and can access things much easier? This will provide more options for you in the future too, should you decide to go with a turbo (although you mentioned maybe running an ESS down the road). Whatever you decide, I think you’re in the best possible position as the car sits now to do any and all wiring that you may need now and in the future.

As far as more weight reduction, did you mention a while back that the car was a track only car? If so, consider removing all the windshield wiper equipment (tank, motor and wipers). There’s also the AC delete option too.

Is the 8.50 cage chromoly?

I won’t be relocating all the wiring at this time.

Yes, this car is a dedicated 1/4 mile track car. I specifically ordered this car 4 years ago to drag race only and never be street driven. The only goal was to spend time at the track with my son. It only has 850 miles on it😂

We pulled all the windshield wiper stuff the 1st year. All the AC/Heater components are being removed now. Optic Armor front and back windows are going in this spring. I’m also going to do carbon race doors with lexan which should save us another 80+ lbs. The goal is to be under 3200 with the cage along with keeping all the interior except for passenger and rear seat.

Yes, the cage is chromoly from Tin Soilders race cars.

That's cool. You could save on the cams and put that toward your power adder budget for next year, or the year after. Your car should be a mid 10 second car of faster with a converter at that weight.

It’s 10.5 at 132 now.

How much was the cage? Also don’t forget a HANS device or something similar.

To have the interior pulled, dash pulled, windshield and back window removed, cage installed and painted….then everything put back in….was about $6500. We’ve worn neck devices for the last 2 years.

Same here
I just looked at my invoice, it’s actually $7200. Definitely a huge investment, but along with the Racetech containment seat it lowers my anxiety when my son is driving the car😂
