It's been awhile since I've been to the track, in my fox body days I made about 12 roll bars And cages for my car and many friends. What are you guys doing these days?

Watson Racing makes some nice options depending on if you want 4 point roll bar or a full cage.

Yeah I seen them also, I'm more into making my own. I rather go through the dash then in front of it

Doesn't seam like anybody is doing roll bars in modern cars. The track seams to turn a blind eye to the new cars even though there is rules in place for cars 2008 and newer. How fast are you going that you want to add a roll bar to a new street car?

Well in 1992 I bought a brand new 5.0l LX and I was running 12.20s and needed at least a 4 point but instead I made a 16 point Chrome moly cage in my shop because I knew I'd be going faster. Which I did at 8.30s with a naturally aspirated 401 Yates headed svo block. Now I have a new shelby gt350 coming and plan on getting into the mid 10s as time goes by. I know the new mustangs are stiffer then the fox body's but still I can't believe more people don't have a roll bar / cage. I don't like buying things I can make and I have all the machines and tools to make most of my own stuff. But sometimes it comes down to whether or not it's worth ones time to make it or buy it. Back In the fox body days the quality parts weren't there. Such as tubular k members and a arms, quality headers, fabricated oil pans. Intakes etc so I made a lot of my own including rear suspension and through the floor sub frame connectors. Times have changed now and I'm trying to get back into the game. I bought a lot of parts back then and wasn't impressed with some of the quality so I would make my own.

Even if you build your own, check out Maximum Motorsports main-hoop mount. I asked Vorshlag why they use MM rollbars and not build their own. They told me they would have engineered and built it just like MM. And they don't believe in stealing someone else's design so they just buy from MM. And Vorshlag build some bada$$ parts and custom builds.

Heres mine...tho not of the mounts.
