Will match the car nicely! ;)

How much lighter?

I'm debating waiting a few years pay off this mustang, let the price come way down maybe get a shell swap everything between the two and make the other all out race car.

Weighing different options right now
I think Chromoly is the way to go. It is lighter and stronger than mild steel. I am not a roll bar expert but maybe someone with more experience will chime in.

Chromoly is lighter because you can use thinner tubes to pass. It also can only be Tig welded, it cant be mig'ed and pass. Lots more money for the tubes, and lots more money for install. I have a 5pt chromoly bar in my 71 duster that is legal to 10.00 or 135mph and it weighs 41lbs.
Unless I missed it, they only show a roll bar, I didn't see any pictures of a cage. It says you can add extension bars to make it legal for 8.50, that's what you will need if you go above 135mph regardless of the time. I would do a lot of research with who is going to install the cage before I pulled the trigger on it, most of my buddies that do it wouldn't touch a kit like that. You are talking around 3000 minimum I would say.

A NHRA removable harness cross bar is not legal. Forget putting your kids in the back seat.

You could fight, that, he doesnt read too good. I agree, it sucks.
It is also what he feels comfortable at his strip since he has liability if you get injured at his premise.

Very true, i have been to many tracks, and its always interesting to see what some tech inspectors focus on and what they dont.
