Yes making power doesn't mean you can drive it worth a crap on the street. Most of the 5.0 crazy NA builds have the cams locked and make horrible low end power which makes it very hard to drive on the street.
Since when does locked cams not make it streetable i think you are grossly under estimating that setup in the boss jpc built.

If you are concerned about low end grunt NA is not for you obviously FI especially a supercharged setup would be far more ideal.

But i thought this was a NA thread. People were saying 500whp NA would be hard yo do.

Its been done and NA builds have gone a long ways past 500whp NA.

As for expense who knows NA hp isnt cheap.

I would love to know the specs on that build

I'm looking towards NA as well. The superchargers just add more power than I'll ever use. I don't need a car that can dip into the 10's on the street.

If I can hit mid 11's consistently at 120-125 I think it would work out nicely. 460-480 hp should be able to do that.

Aside from full exhaust, one of the aftermarket intakes, tune, CAI, and cams should put it there

Might not be 500, but it'll be a damn quick car. Get a NO2 shot if you really need the extra push.

cost is always the factor though. its getting to the point that making more hp NA is harder and harder to do when they already make 400 factory or making more hp NA cost lots of money when you start at looking at 1200ish for cams and what like 3k+ for heads? Thats 4k for heads and cam when a beefcake special paxton makes alot more hp for not much more money.

Once you start doing lots of bolt ons and nos might as well have done the FI route and had more HP for less money available all the time instead of NOS shot here and there.

That being said the big HP NA builts are the coolest and most impressive ones imo like the guy on here running 10s NA with just bolt ons.

If you take away all the other bolt ons & tune that we all do, you're left with cams vs SC. Entry price for cams is 1500 + install. Blower is 5000 + install. A lot more power, but since all the other mods are likely the same (unless you go Whipple style w/o intake) there's your difference. Yes, I know the SC is way more power but it's also twice the price, minimum.

All depends what you want to do. Look at how much we spend on headers and cat backs for less gains.

I only mentioned NO2 if it was really important to get over 500 or if not, be happy with about 475 or so and have a very strong car.

FWIW you wouldn't run FTW purple on the street because it's a fortune per gallon but still awesome power on 93 and E-85.
FTW Purple no but i live in the land of e85 everywhere North Dakota ive had E85 cars in the past and id do it again even for a daily driver. Screw MPGs make Horsepower!!

na builds are great as you can build them in stages, plus if you really want to go boost it later on you can always add a centrifical supercharger that way you can keep whatever intake manifold that you upgrade 2

Too much of this and that....plus I really haven't seen many S550's with cams. Then by the time someone figures out how to tune it WITH all of these mods you will wish you had just gone Roush/VMP, or even Whipple.....The calibrations with these kits is so dialed in by tuners the cars actually drive better than they do stock NA from the factory, oh and you'll be 100% emissions legal....suspension set up can be changed to more than compensate for the added weight and with the added power in the straights you'll be glad you did the SC....

I had Stage 3's with limiters and yes it lost low end, but drove just fine

the new comp 3 cams don't require replacing the valve springs or installing VCT limiters
