As nice as it is to think about 500whp NA...Your budget will buy a Whipple or TT set up and you will see 650whp pretty easy. Hard to ignore or dismiss.

This!!
TT set on low boost= 600RWHP easily. Plenty of room to grow from there.

I'd rather spend 6-8k on a blower and be able to upgrade the system in the future. You'll spend 6-8k trying to achieve 500rwhp N/A and not be able to go much farther past that without FI of some sort anyways.
*Sigh* I know. :( I guess it was just one of those things where you want to pursue it because of the challenge it offers. Based on the replies here and lack of other info I could find on it, if I COULD make it happen, I'd probably be the first 500HP N/A Coyote S550 around, at least on M6G.com anyway.

Stop being all logical! I wanted things to be difficult, damn it!

Considering I could score a ProCharger tuner kit for a decent bit under $6k, that certainly does sound like the elevator to easy HP gains. My N/A route was more like taking the stairs after the elevator broke down.

$1600 - Kooks long-tube headers w/cats
$1500 - GT350 intake manifold w/87mm throttle body
$800 - Camshaft set
$300 - Ford Racing injector set
----------
$4200 total, and still no guarantee of 500whp. Yeah, supercharger definitely sounds like the better option if I really am set on more power.

Yep and the cost to swap cams is honestly not worth the increase in power. That would a final mod I'd make to squeeze out every last hp

Regardless of the number I think you will be very happy with those mods listed. :)

Cobra jet intake manifold + throttle body is cheaper than the gt350 manifold and has higher HP potential. It made almost 30 more peak HP compared to the gt350 on a dyno test via another website. GT350 intake revs higher and peaks at a higher rpm, while the cobra jet has a lower peak rpm but higher peak hp numbers. You'd be spending almost half the cost of a blower and weigh 100 pounds less

Oh, I'm enjoying the heck out of the car now, with the 400+ HP it already has! I'm sure that if I added all that other stuff the thrill factor would go up exponentially.

With thoughts of FI now though, it will probably make me start re-thinking every single cosmetic purchase I want to make for the car. For example, I'd love a carbon fiber hood, front chin/splitter and rear diffuser from Anderson Composites, but those three pieces alone would run me about $2,900. That's like 45% of a ProCharger kit right there! Throw in the cost for new flow forged wheels and tires (~$2,400), along with a set of long-tube headers ($1,600) and I would have spent enough to buy a Whipple Stage I kit!

I think you can crack 500 NA with a race tune. 110+ Octane isn't cheap or practical but there is a lot of power to be made with a race tune.

Oh yeah. So many options :hail: Then suspension goodies. :headbang:

While I do agree with your logic, considering that my car is again just a daily driver, an extra 100lbs wouldn't mean a darn thing to me if I was supercharged and pushing over 650whp. Plus, I've read that the CJ manifold is so tall that I wouldn't be able to use the stock S550 hood and would have to buy something with at least a 3" cowl for clearance. That could be wrong though. You know how reliable the Internet is for good information. :)

Herein lies the foundation of a great debate though. As a purely daily-driven car that can not legally reach speeds over 70-75mph at most in the state of NC, what benefit comes from any horsepower-boosting modifications whatsoever? If the car is already thrilling to me as it is with 400+ horsepower, is the added cost of several thousand dollars going to make it THAT much more enjoyable to drive to work and the grocery store? Would it be a waste spending so much cash just so I can go from 0-60mph a half-second faster than I can now? Sure, superchargers/turbos have that undeniable "bad-ass" appeal to them and would be fun to show off at club meetings or "cars and coffee" type of events, but for me, where is the money better spent, on looks or speed? Only I can answer that question, so it looks like I have quite a bit more thinking to do. :)

I will definitely do suspension stuff in the future. Even daily drivers can benefit from better road grip and less body roll! My SR Performance springs have been the best $200 investment I've made so far.

Mono blade cobra jet, Lund e85 tune, injectors, cai, longtubes would put you at probably 475+ to the wheels. I think 500 is attainable.

I guess I am just one of those guys who is never satisfied for very long. I stepped up from a near 400hp Charger R/T and 1998 GT that made 300+ to the wheels. The 15' GT was fun for a minute from the show room. I am about to make my first real purchases toward increasing horse power. A s/c or turbo down the road is not out of the question.

you missed a set of cams, some say it isn't required, but in the end they all add up!!! It also depends on how radical the tune is too
maybe i missed something but has anyone even installed cams yet? who knows what they're going to make

$800 - Camshaft set
are there other cams out there besides the comps?

I would say youre in the lower 400 range with your mods. ALWAYS assume the lowest with mods. These days the factory does pretty good with stock parts.

And yep supercharger or bust with these engines. And yeah I feel your pain living in NC with the stupid speed laws. For those not aware, anything over 10 mph over 55 can be punishable with heavy fines or having your car impounded if I remember right.
