Has anyone done a full naturally aspirated build probably with cams and gotten over 500 wheel horse? I noticed cams are roughly $2500 when a supercharger is $9000+ so it made me curious.

e85 tune long tubes and different intake will get you vary close.

You can buy an ess g2 all setup and tune for about 6500 for everything you need

so i had to search what that was lol but who knew centrifugal chargers were so much cheaper. If I'm going supercharged I mostly just want that whine that the 03 cobras had. Will this make that sound?
And what are the proposed wheel gains for one of these? Didn't e see it in the other thread...

If you want that whine, you're going to need the helical cut gears on the supercharger. I don't know if ESS does, but I know some of the others do. Get with Terry over at Beefcake racing he'll kook you up.

With E85 and ported 18 manifold and a really open flowing intake, I think I'm ~434 at the wheel.

I don't think Headers alone will get me to 500rwhp, but maybe at the crank.

So I think you'd need cams or displacement or something too.

So like the thumpr cams, JLT cold air, tuner obviously and maybe 5.2L intake and heads???

If it is a goal to do 500whp NA, you are going to spend a ton of money and effort to get there. If that's something you want to do, I get it. But CJ intake is somewhere in the $2500 range, Cams same range, 5.2 liter heads $4000ish, tuning $500-ish and up, tuning device $300-$400 and up, injectors new $1000, lots of time and effort. You want to get 650-700 HP at the wheels ? If you want a really nice fun street car with a proven formula that isn't crazy taxing on you, your shop? Get any one of the basic Edelbrock, VMP, Whipple, Paxton, Vortech, ESS, Procharger set-ups and have some fun. You can do a Centri kit for $7500 out the door, a PD blower kit for $10k.

I'm not an expert on what it will take to get it there (my car isn't there yet), just providing some data.

Outside opinion:
If you intend to drag and want to stay NA you'll need to rev the hell out of it to make power, with cams, intake etc.

On the street (IMO) cams manifold etc etc will not serve as well as youre thinking.

Easiest most streetable power in this platform will be SC

I have two dailies and a Harley. The mustang is one of the two dailies. So i have three methods to get to work 9 months of the year.
i weekend run the car in high speed autocross like 85mph top speed. And i do road course track days, not full blown race. Ideally, would like steady power delivery without putting my car in a wall... maybe the Roush charger with their conservative tune would do the trick? It's not entirely about money, but if you can do cams for say $3000 and have roughly 430rwhp wouldn't that be better for road course tracks?

it appears the cobra jet manifold, cold air, cams and e85 will get you there... that car sounded amazing on the dyno

JMO purely opinion. Aftermarket cams for the coyote are an absolute waste of time in MOST applications. For a LS/Lt gm motor? Absolute its just part of the recipe, on the coyote with the VCT, we get most of the benefit of aggressive cams, without the crappy part. Can improvements be made for a full race application? Yup, but any of the big horsepower coyotes up to around 1200 hp are on stock cams.

While i no longer race/autocross Im a driver, the car needs to handle right and do as I like when i like. With that said, centri for the application youre talking about, is a far superior way to go. You're only adding 45lbs under the hood, the power is linear to rpm, and heat is not an issue. The other issue for your application with a PDB is, you'll have 500+ ft of torque instantly, its a bit difficult (not impossible) to get good and smooth in and out of turns.

When it comes to cams, Ford put aggressive cams in our cars from get go, the added valvetrain stress and rpms to see the difference, just isnt worth it.

My car has a great tune, lth, and gt350 tb and mani, on 93 and I am probably ahead of that horse power (not much but probably) and runs great.

yeah man @PC_GUARD i appreciate your opinion, i like the feedback. it looks like to get to 500rwhp it's going to cost $5000 anyway. to spend $5000, you might as well spend $7000 but IMO if you're gonna spend $9000 why not go 2with a PDB from roush or whipple? all of this is theory at this stage, i've owned the car and haven't even done a CAI. but when i do something, i don't do it little, i like to go big lol
but if a whipple/roush charger is going to make it wild and 'unsafe' (i'm not worried about me, the car is built to be safe, but dont want to do any body work either) i can stay conservative. can you swap pulleys on the centrifugal real easy like you can on a whipple/roush? i'd rather set my pulley real low and then move up as it starts to feel 'slow' to me
