Agreed, what's the point if the fuse takes care of it. That said, just in case someone discovers some obscure thing that also might be tied into that fuse, the diagram is handy to locate the TCU to unplug it.

I found it interesting what the document you posted said about the antennas. I think the conclusions about disconnecting antennas from the TCU are incorrect, sure that might make it not work, but it's still broadcasting, albeit not very well. Also, sure, it uses the nav/GPS antenna, but not for data, only to know the location of the car. I wouldn't worry about the nav/GPS antenna at all in regards to the TCU, worst case scenario if disabling the fuse or the TCU itself poses some other problem we haven't thought of yet, then a guy could rip out the cellular antenna and cover the TCU in a faraday cloth and there's no way any data is getting in or out.
I wonder if the TCU can be turned off using Forscan?

That was looked at. At the time, anyone with the ability didn't want to tackle the job. It seems quite a bit of forscan Kung fu would be needed.

Isn't that more involved than just pulling the fuse, or does the fuse also affect something else?
Nope, the fuse doesn't affect anything else. I pulled the fuse, pulled all the wire connectors to the modem itself, and turned off telematics in the software. No problems at all.

Ok, so Ford sells sport cars, track beasts, and quarter mile rippers to the public. But when you use it in that way, they collect all that data behind your back via the Tell-On-Your-Antics Modem and send it to the insurance companies. Sounds like some backroom deals done to make insurance rates go up. Why make sport cars that you can't drive as such! The insurance companies already know what you have based on the VIN. Do they really think you are not going to put your foot in it! I thought just turning off the WIFI was enough but now I see that the Telematics Modem also uses mobile data. I'm with the group pull the fuse and/or yank out that POS modem and don't look back. Of course, in future cars, that my not be possible and potentially it could disable the car or worse yet be illegal. Time will tell.

GM got caught selling to insurance. When that hit the news, Ford announced that they have never done that. Interestingly, they didn't add: and never will.

If you have sync in your car there is an on/off button in the connectivity section that allows you to enable or disable the data to be reported to insurance companies. Whether it actually works to disable the data being sent I cannot say but mine has been set to off since I bought my car. Telematics fuse and connector is also removed. ET no phone home anymore.

Yep. It's already impossible to disable in some new cars. My wife's 24 CRV is one example. Every time that you start the car a message pops up asking you to agree to data sharing. The modem is integrated into one of the car's control modules. Fargin bastages......

Can you disagree to data sharing and the car still operate? Or is that not an option.

"No" isn't an option and if you simply wait for several seconds, it goes away and everything works normally. Its more of an annoying reminder than anything else.

And so it has begun! This was one reason I didn't go for the 2024 Mustang GT. I was afraid of that. We already know they locked the ECM so you can't tune it. but 500HP is plenty for street use so the ECM being locked, was for me, no big deal. However, the Tell-On-Your-Antics modem was a bridge to far.
