Well guys, unfortunately- I’m out.

I didn’t find a different Mach 1 or switch to a totally different car.
While it’s true that I was frustrated - ordered on 10/15/21 and never moved beyond “confirmed order”, I was prepared to wait it out.

My first car was a ‘68 GT, and since I’m 63, I thought my last car should be a Mustang.
But not just any Mustang - a Mach 1.
I’ve never special ordered a car before, so this was an extra treat for me.
Handling Package, fancy stereo, rear seat delete, leather Recaro’s on and on.

…. then I got a call from my Doctor … I’m stage 3 cancer.
So instead of waiting for my car to be built, I’m waiting in line at the hospital….. guess it wasn’t meant to be.

Since I don’t know if I’ll be around before I could pay off the car … I bowed out.
The Sales Manager was very understanding, getting my whole $500 deposit back. He even said he would like to keep the order open, and after the car comes in - he would let me take it for a long test drive. Very thoughtful, but then again, I thought it would be hard to pry my hands off the steering wheel. I told him it was up to him, but I wouldn’t be taking the car. I told him how everyone is chomping at the bit for an HP car and he would have no trouble selling it.
But in the end, it was cancelled.

Still hoping everyone gets the car they ordered.

Do a burnout for me, if you think about it.

Stay on top of your health, so you can enjoy your car for a long, long time.

I am sorry to hear about the cancer. There are a lot of advances in treatment for it. You are close to U of M. I know several people who beat cancer, a couple who were stage 4 pancreatic. You can beat this too. You should come out to some Mustang club events. It will help keep your spirits up. Like @Atlas1 said, you can get the s650 Boss when you beat cancer.

Kinda what i was thinking. So if adding HP pushes the built out that seems not worth it if your not going to track the car?

didn't we have this convo somewhere recently? yes. Not to mention you can buy the HP parts direct from Ford for MSRP if you want, or any of the discounts and save a decent chunk. But as someone is likely to chime in your VIN won't reflect the 'HP' trim (does it even show?). But in 20 years I doubt any S550 will be worth more than scrap because you won't be allowed to own let alone operate one...

There are people who drive personal lambos in gridlock NYC traffic. Some people just have TOO much money

Im new to this forum. But this was my main question before placing my order. I won’t be tracking it, but if I’m paying this much for a Mustang, might as well make the most of it. If the order takes too long, I might just settle for a 22/23 GT PP. That Tremec is another selling point too.

I got tired of waiting, had my order in Oct 2021 and not getting scheduled. People after me were and I had same options. So I canceled and my 2022 roush 3 special edition gets delivered to house Friday.

I wouldn’t mind a Roush, but I much rather stay N/A. If anything I’d probably get the 2023 GT PP, praying it will have a Tremec trans. That would be a great way to end the run of the S550.

From what I’ve read/heard the S650 will be released as a 2024 model. So either there will be a full 2023 Mustang production year or an extended 2022 run. I’d prefer the latter, and hoping for the Mach 1 to be part of it.

I have not seen any current known constraint holds on Handling Package cars.

Get what you want. Well, if you are lucky to get it at all.
