Then its a terrible decision, period. I could stomach the thought of an all-electric hatchback based on the Mustang.. but not an SUV.

So glad I experienced that place with Alan at the helm before it turned to crap. Like Apple and Jobs.

A sign of things to come, I'm afraid.

Well... in Mexico there was a V8 powered 1974 Mustang, so....
Yes, there was a V8 powered Mustang II in 1974 for the Mexican market place but for U.S and Canadian markets which represents to majority of overall production there was no V8 available and with ~385,000 units sold in NA market place for 1974 the production numbers in Mexico were not really relevant.

Even though the Ford Motor Company Mustang II won "Motor Trends Car of the Year" and Lee Iacocca and his vision sold ~386,000 Mustangs that year which almost equaled the 1965 production numbers the car was a disaster from a performance and handling standpoint.

In the Spring of 1973 I bought a brand new 1974 Mustang Mach I (with 105 HP V6) and traded in my 1967 Cougar that I had owned for many years and that was probably the worst decision from a Mustang purchase that I have ever made.

Were there some V8 powered Mustangs in Mexico in 1974, absolutely but not enough to have an impact on the overall picture of the direction that Ford was heading towards.

Bottom line is I do not see Ford going with only a FI 4 cylinder/electric motor assist as an only option and suggest that at least a FI V6 and possibly a FI V8 over the next few years.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Let's face it. NO GT 500 at NAIAS. So sad and pissed that I've spent $ to go to it this week. (industry day). If Chicago isn't the launch I'll consider the Lebanon Ford option of a blown 18 GT with PP2. Really disappointed given the build up.

Show me something Ford that makes me want to write a check! Chevy keeps putting out good stuff (ZL1, ZR1) but I can't afford a ZR1 and a ZL1 is like driving a chopped Merc.

Time to start the "Down with Hackett" chant..?
It's not just him, far from it. They're constantly tripping over themselves these days on how to make a product right. Makes me sad to hear the goings-on daily.

I would be perfectly fine if they use the Mach 1 name for the hybrid S650. I just am having a hard time seeing how ANYONE that knows something about Ford would think using the Mach 1 name for an SUV would go well.... I just do not understand it.... And then to announce it right after the bullitt mustang? The phrase that comes to mind is "WTF are they thinking".

The real kicker is that they didn't say shit about a GT500, but HAD to throw in the BS Mach 1 SUV that will (hopefully) never come to be. At least, not with that name. I've got no problem with them building an all-electric super-SUV, but for all that is good in the world, don't crucify a legendary name that has NEVER had a thing to do with an SUV.

This is just one more reason why Zee Germans are probably getting my money in a few years. I love Mustang, and have since I was a kid, but this happy horseshit is ending the love affair.

I'll take a turbo'd straight six. I'll miss my V8, but damn.
