The problems are QC related and seem to have been worked out a while ago. Many cars have been abused and the mt82 has held up fine. I wouldn't sweat it. Shopping for a used early mt82 car? That's a different story.
I really hope that is the case. I'll be following the '13/14 models to see if any common issues come up. Good thing is when owners say the transmission is working like it's supposed to, it's a much better unit than the older Tremecs.

Biggest con for me so far - wheel and tire selection.

I love the look of the 20" wheels. I don't like the look of the other wheels. Tires fitted to the 20" wheels are gonna be $$ and are limited to summer only so far.

As I want a year-round daily driver, this is a big consideration for me.

There is really no reason for 20in. 19 should be fine. 20 will just add more weight but doubtful it will give you any performance or handling gain.

I am definitely aware of the performance limitations with a heavier wheel and tire set-up. The 20" would strictly be for appearance. Ideally, that same style would be done in a 19" wheel in black, but it doesn't appear to be the case. The option appears to be this for a black wheel.

Plus, for a daily driver, I don't want to pay $$ for 20" summer tires that wear out fast.

The 20" wheels do look great, in my opinion.

If this wheel were offered on the GT, I'd take it.

Am I correct in assuming that these wheels are the base 17 inch wheels? To me they look closer to 18's but I'm not sure.

These look like they will be the 17" wheels:

The black gloss painted rims are 19".

Ahh! Good find! Thank you! So then the wheels I'm talking about must be the optional 18 inch wheels with the performance package having the 19 inch wheels I posted above.

I looked and looked at the s197's before they came on the market. It wasn't til I saw them in person that I could make my decision about whether my visual pros and cons were real or not. Once you see the car in person, I found the way I viewed all future pictures was more accurate. I hope many of our cons go a away.

For now, I'm really hoping the length of the rear fender, from the rear of the wheel backward, is shorter than it appears in some of the shots, and than it appears in a pic of the two cars overlaid. I like the roof line and short deck lid, I still have a hang up with the rear overhang. It's what bugs me the most about the current gen as well. If I could have asked the design team to be sure to fix one thing proportionally, that would have been it. We shall see. For now, in the pics, they appear to same...

Lurker and first time caller here. I have a black 14 GT and was wondering if these black 19"rims were going to be available to buy.

As far as the new '15 model goes... I like the front but the jury is still out on the rear and interior until I see it in person. Pics are one thing, but nothing beats actually being able to kick the tires and take it for a test a test drive. I had a 2001 Cobra with IRS. I am interested to see how the new car handles.
