Seeing many threads on here about the S550 intake "crack" - does anyone have any pictures to share to show the exact area of the crack and how bad of a crack it is?

Is this "crack" being associated with the IMRC, or is the damage from the crack elsewhere?

I've got a cracked one. I'll see if I can find it and if so I will post some pics.

Hey guys, it’s OP’s friend. Found a ‘15 GT manifold off Reddit I’m gonna pick up today for free. The cracking is pretty common in most 15-17 V8s around 60k miles. Hoping this one holds on for a while. I had both IMRCs replaced in what I thought would be the fix to the problem. It was not. Not sure where the crack is or how big it is but based on the symptoms I’d imagine it’s pretty small. No misfires just a little bit of bucking around 2K rpm and a little roughness with a cold start. Threw codes P2005 and P2007 I believe which is IMRC stuck open and closed. Didn’t want to deal with the dealer on this but I have no choice. Took it to mavis tire for them to work on it and they stiffed me $3300 and didn’t fix the problem.

I found mine was leaking by looking at logs. It was adding 30% fuel everywhere. So I may or may not be able to see the crack.

Mine’s getting about 5 fewer MPGs. It’s drinking fuel as well

When they diagnosed it it seems like they ran some sort of gas through it and found it was leaking. My first few minutes driving it out of the dealership I could smell something strange :like:

Just picked up a 2015 GT intake manifold. Part number: FR3E-9S455-HB
Will this work in my 2017 GT? Looks exactly the same

Who knows why Ford changes part numbers. 15 to 17 intake manifold is the same part.

Why the difference in part number then?

FR3E-9S455-HB vs FR3Z-9424-N?
No clue. Typically an intake manifold always carries the 9424 number, I've never seen one like the first one.

I think I remember some small difference 17 vs 15-16) having to do with vacuum hoses. It affected the installation instructions for PP3 on my 17. I don’t remember details but Ford Performance may be able to tell you

Do the vacuum hose differences prevent it from being installed in this current application / situation?

FR3E-9S455-HB is molded in or is on a label in/on the intake manifold correct? This is the engineering part number (the "E" in FR3E). FR3Z-9424-N is the service part number.
