What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

I went for a drive today, about four hours to get to Mt Panorama in Bathurst (Australia) and I got pole position. The track is a public road for most of the year.

Each year in October the Supercars series have a 1000 kilometre race at this track, 161 laps. Mustangs, Camaros and this year there will be Supras as well.

This is from last year's race, Kai Allen in his Mustang dodging a kangaroo at about 250 km/hr (155 miles/hr) down Conrod Straight.



And Chaz Mostert in his Mustang, he had an engine failure and pulled to the side of track. Not much else to do except get a beer from a fan.

Replacing all the important relays in the fuse box (which is pretty much all of them lol).

Done with all the big 4-pin ones, waiting on the 5-pin for the radiator fan (FC2) to come in.

The new relays are slightly bigger and heavier than the old ones. I hope it translates to reliability!

I finished installing Anderson Composites front lip, front grille, front corner pockets, side skirts and rear diffuser on my buddy's car. He added those funny looking lights to the grille, I told him I don't like them but hey it's his car. I believe he went to the store and found closet lights and glued them in to this expensive grille lol

Love the carbon fiber, hate the lights.

Bathurst, Nordschleife, Isle of Man, Spa, Lemans, are all on my bucket list. Even just to be there and not necessarily during the races that make them famous. Some day!

Were you having failures? Or is this some kind of preventative maintenance thing?
I ask because in all my 55 years of driving cars I can count on one hand the number of relay failures I've had. My '12 Edge, '14 Fusion and '18 Mustang all equal zero combined.

Yes I was.

First was AC blower not coming on, swapped relays and that fixed it.

Next was high CHT's, which was because only 1 fan was running, swapping relays around got them all working.

Next was wipers not coming on sometimes, relay again.

Seeing that a lot of important stuff were using the exact same type of relay (PCM, starter solenoid, fuel pump), I did not want to risk getting stranded somewhere over that, so decided to replace them all.

The newer relays are noticeably bigger and heavier, look to be redesigned and improved over the ones that came with the car.

I cant even remember the last time a relay gave me trouble on any of my other cars too!

The new 5-pin relay came in. That finishes my relay upgrades. So at least if anything acts up I can rule them out.

5-pin relay 8T2T-14B92-BA is now GU5T-14B192-HA.

I'm glad you guys arent having issues with these. But when I was troubleshooting, there were quite a few youtube vids specifically mentioning checking these relays, and google shows them for sale all over the internet (with most being fakes). Which makes me think them failing is not uncommon.

These are the latest part numbers if anyone needs them.
