About to pull the trigger on the Ford rear seat delete kit. I know with 21+ you have to leave the female belt ends, that doesn’t bother me. Don’t even know if I’ll install the kit, but it’s something I want to have to have the “complete” Handling Package in my storage room. Do you guys think there’s any reason to hold off, as in Ford will make a kit with 21+ in mind? Or just do it?

Dumb question but where is the weight savings with a rear seat delete kit?

I ask because I bought one. Haven't installed it yet. I did install a new DW fuel pump and when removing the lower part of the rear seat to access it, I realized it weighs close to nothing. The seat backs are the same. Is the weight loss primarily due to removing the seat belts?

I'm hesitant to actually do this mod now.

I’m under the impression it’s not much savings at all to be honest. I’d more be getting it to have the “complete” car.

I've heard videos anywhere from 23-26lbs which isnt bad to be honest.

Fair enough, that’s more than I thought.

In my truthful opinion if it was in my garage it would be installed, especially if it was to complete the package.

I guess my thought why I’ve held off, is the current kit, you have to leave in the female seatbelt ends on 2021+ cars. My thought is what if they eventually revise the kit for the S650 or something, and it’s backwards compatible with 2021+ cars, where you don’t have to leave those in. It’s not a big deal, I’d just rather not regret buying it down the road.

The male seatbelt ends, with the belt spool reel are the heavy bits, those and the seat backs with the bracket hardware weigh more than the seat bottoms.

If you’re doing a rear seat delete on a street car in the name of saving weight, dont. It adds exhaust volume and sacrifices the seats folding down which is a pretty large practical element on a street car.

I have a daily driver truck so zero regrets with the rear seat delete and the 30lbs dogs or 3 track tires still fit in the rear seat area with the delete, and no verbal complaints from the dogs so far.

Honestly, I don’t think I’ll actually end up installing it. I wanted the car optioned without the delete so the holes were threaded for the seatbelts. My reasoning for getting the kit is it was a factory option for the car, and I’d like to have the kit stored away, as I believe one day they won’t be available anymore. I didn’t have to opportunity to order one of these cars new, so the only options mine is missing is the rear seat delete and red painted calipers. The calipers are subject to taste, so I don’t really care about those, but the RSD is a cool factory option I’d like to have stowed away.

I was on the fence, but with Ford’s Memorial Day sale the kit is under $1,000.

mite a waste. Ruin your car for no reason. If you want to save weight, switch out the front seats, the wheels, varioys suspension components, battery, hood, etc.

Rear seat setup is nothing.

Besides saving a trivial few pounds, the rear seat delete will increase the volume of the exhaust sound in the cabin. :like:

The car is 18.4% cooler with the seat delete installed and the rear seats in storage instead.

I considered ordering the rear seat delete factory option but I couldn't stomach spending extra for less content when Ford should have offered a credit. If you've got $1K to burn and want to save weight, skip the authentic Ford rear seat delete kit and get some functional lightweight front seats. (They can be surprisingly comfortable and keep you planted.) If you still want to ditch the rear seat, you might even have some leftover funds to install one of the aftermarket "carpeted" plastic panel kits or you can easily make your own.
