Mine was burning like 1.5 quarts every 3000 miles. Now it's burning zero after taking it on a road trip. Last oil change was at 5472 miles. Currently at 6803 miles. Guess mine wasn't broke in yet, and now it is after the road trip. I always checked the oil before driving it, and would usually have to add a little bit of oil after two drive cycles. Been 1331 miles after the road trip, and have checked it many times now, and it hasn't moved at all. 😎

Take your car on a road trip if it's burning oil with low miles. Maybe yours will stop too. 👍

Have you been using the same brand and weight of oil at each change?

Back when I owned a GT350, I found that if I tried to keep the oil level close to the top line on the dipstick the engine would use oil. If I left it alone it would end up at about midway between the two marks and never move from there.

Mine would get close to the bottom hole then I would add some to put it back in the middle. I never put it all the way to the top. Now it hasn't moved from the middle.

I'm surprised you even notice oil burning with the amount of miles on your vehicle? I joke that I will never know with my engine. My car is 9 years old, has 5600 miles and had 8 oil changes. I do one every year because the EVIC says to when I take it out of storage.

I think engines that don't run a lot or are babied can have some issues with ring seal. I was a little fanatical during break in using heavy and no throttle a lot. But I also averaged about 10,000 miles a year on mine. The GT350 was so great I always wanted to drive it.

Then there is this guy, over a 100k miles on his GT350 and eats eight quarts of oil every 5000 miles. It ain't babied.

My favorite quote from the article:

"Shit, it's a Mustang, I'm gonna drive it." Words to live by.
Mine would have had that many miles by now if I kept it and continued driving it. Hard to believe it's been over 10 years. The GT350 was the last Ford I absolutely had to have. I hope they make some more cars I feel that way about.

Mine did the same thing, right around 9000 miles. 2017.

Then it ate the mains and rod bearings. YMMV.
Hopefully that doesn't happen to mine. Got warranty if it does.

Actually they wouldn't. Ford's limit on engine replacement is using >1qt/500 miles, C&D article car was only using 1qt/625 miles. So "normal" oil consumption....according to Ford.

hold up, that can be read one of two ways…

did you lose the mains when it WAS eating oil?
or just after it STOPPED eating oil?

…mine has been eating oil now for 82,000 miles and shows no sign of stopping 😂
