Asked RP Tech Support about Synchromax meeting Ford spec - here is the answer (on my attempt to have the fluid replaced I was warned that if it doesn't meet spec, warranty claim can be denied and with MT-82 being the most likely component in this car to break, I'd rather not risk it - and my transmission is fine, just bit notchy at times) :

For the MT-82 six speed manual transmission on your 2015 Ford Mustang we recommend Royal Purple Synchromax (part #01512, quart bottle) once warranty compliance is no longer a concern. The Synchromax is going to meet or exceed the performance requirements of the Ford WSS-M2C200-D2 specification, but it is technically not a warranty compliant replacement due to it being a performance upgrade fluid. If warranty compliance is a serious concern of yours we recommend using the OEM Ford WSS-M2C200-D2 spec fluid.

saying its "not a warranty compliant replacement due to it being a performance upgrade fluid" is total bullshit. the only reason to not be warranty compliant is not exactly meeting the spec

by that logic putting anything superior to the factory in the car would void warranty. Car can run on 87, doesnt require 93 octane, but if I put 93 octane in it warranty is voided!

no there is something in the spec that isn't the same not better or worse. in this case I believe it to be viscosity though I'm not sure about that

What.... is this true? I was told it took premium fuel haha and even if it didn't, 93 is going in my car. I've never heard of this one.

Also how easy would it be for them to check if you had the RP fluid? is it just as simple as looking at it, or could they perform warranty work, without checking that kind of thing.

To be specific, it is because RP likely doesn't want to spend money on whatever it takes to prove it does meet Ford / Motorcraft spec, but I think it would unreasonable to expect this kind of answer from RP. Bottom line, I believe there is a risk that if there is a transmission failure (and there were a few I saw on this forum, more in the past on previous model years), you can end up paying for it yourself.

Not sure how high that risk is, it's for people out there to decide. I'm staying with OEM fluid for the length of warranty, anybody wants three bottles of RP Synchromax ?

Well shoot, if you didn't freak me out about it, I'd buy them from you.
So are you doing a fluid swap, and putting new motorcraft brand in it, with additive? or just leaving it for now, as that's what's in the car already?

I am going to do mine soon but if I remember correctly it's on the passengers side. Look for the bottom plug and the fill plug will be above it

Only one? I've got a new addiction thanks to you! Banana Mama and Miami Vice x 10 each everyday since I've been here. Hope I fit in my car when I get home.

Of all the aftermarket fluids available RP would be the easiest to identify because of its purple color.

Changing it back to the stock trans fluid is a pretty easy solution. All you need to do is order the motorcraft trans fluid and swap it with whatever you are using. It will cost you 100 dollars but better than paying for a brand new trans.

The purple color dissappears and it just looks like regular oil.
