If you make the drivers side pinch welds between 2 and 2.25 inches higher than the passenger side you can just fill the transmission till fluid starts pouring out. Way easier than a dipstick.

Wow nice. How did you figure out that measurement?

I slowly jacked up the drivers side until the OE fill started dripping out the fill hole. Started dripping at a little over 2 3/8 inches.

Sorta old post at this point - if anyone's out there!

Let's say theoretically that someone:

-
used race ramps to lift the rear end up, so the vehicle wasn't level
- didn't warm up the vehicle to operating temperatures (90 degrees out though)
- drained the dif fluid and got about 1.5-1.7 quarts (factory oil at 23k miles on a 2015)
- refilled the dif with 2 quarts Royal Purple and friction modifier (Late Model Resto's kit)

Would that someone have a problem and be grenading their differential?

Probably not.

I will go with the Castrol on my upcoming diff change. I found it most interesting that Ford Performance recommends Castrol Synthetic engine oil instead of Motorcraft in their high performance vehicles.

Can someone please comment if they changed their MT82-D4 to Motul?
