flaming bag of dog poo on their front door step!

Not according to the HOA's I have been on. Must have 100% of home/lot owners to agree according to the restrictions. I agree with this. We all agreed to these covenants when we purchased the property. We should all agree to amend them. Not just a few board members.By-laws typically permit the board to make "rules" which only require board vote. I would agree that if it takes an owner vote it's on consent of all owners, but almost every by-law has a clause to let the board make rules.
Home owners associations typically have less impressive by-laws than condos and what not since they are nonsense and usually only incorporated for a very limited specific purpose.
I just put a set on my GT. Only noisy with start up and hard acceleration. Driving normally they are surprisingly quiet. One thing I have learned in 53 years of life. You can never make everyone happy. Do your best not to offend people but understand you will. And when they are unreasonable continue with what makes you happy and don't look back.there is nothing obnoxious about corsa... :tsk:
What is "too" loud is different to everyone. If you think your exhaust isn't obnoxious, but your neighbors do, then I guess they are wrong. Now if I come to your window with my open header bike and I don't think it's obnoxious, but you do, then I guess your wrong. That's not what's happening here, though. It's a cold start, not an open header bike.
If you have to exaggerate this to make a point you are simply making a bad point. Hell, why not compare it to a jet engine taking off?
I do my best to enter, and exit my neighborhood as quietly as possible. But if complaints were to come.. sorry... I refuse to alter my exhaust to suit someone else.I am firmly NOT in the camp of those saying to just fuggem. You have to live near these people; think of their own feelings and then their perceptions of you. You're not building any bridges by aggravating them, and may cause quite a bit of hostility.
See if there's some way that you can park away from windows with your exhaust facing the opposite direction of the doors/windows of your neighbors. Start the car only when necessary and try to idle out without adding gas if possible until you're out of earshot. As a last resort you may need to think about exhaust modifiation to cut down noise.
But really, don't be a selfish asshole.
The OP is not running "open headers" by his neighbors window. And he said a neighbor (singular) left him a note. Respectful? Like your "Don't be a f*g" cartoon implying people who modify their Mustangs exhaust are f*gs. (rolls eyes)What is "too" loud is different to everyone. See how that works? It's not an exaggeration, it's putting things in perspective. Your "mild" muffler delete could be as annoying to some people as an open header v-twin would be to you.
Do what you want. Fortunately I live in an area where people are respectful of those around us... one upside to gentrification I suppose.
I actually thought that too, but resisted posting. Thanksflaming bag of dog poo on their front door step!

Couldn't have said it any better than this... :amen:QftI do my best to enter, and exit my neighborhood as quietly as possible. But if complaints were to come.. sorry... I refuse to alter my exhaust to suit someone else.
It is absolutely an exaggeration. Not only did you, objectively speaking, go with a much louder example you also included a purposeful intent to annoy (you mentioned revving). What is "too" loud is different to everyone. It's all in how you look at it. Despite my allergies I respect other people enough not to ask them stop to wear perfume or cologne around me despite the watery eyes and sneezes that follow. According to how you view respect perhaps I should ask them to stop and if they don't passive aggressively imply that their being disrespectful and there the ones with the issue...Stripler said:Do what you want.
