I was definitely disappointed that the GT/PP was slower than the 1LE in Motortrend's test. However, after looking at the entire product line, it is clear that Ford wasn't trying to compete against the 1LE directly. The GT/PP was not intended to be as track focused, and instead was intended to be a bit more well rounded. However, even with that in mind, I do think that Ford needs to re-tune the GT/PP suspension package. There is something with the damping in the rear that makes the car feel floaty and a bit wallowy. I think with some tweaks to the shocks, they can make it handle better and ride better as well. It still may not beat the 1LE, but now I realize that's OK.

I do remember someone mentioning that Ford sent a survey about a track pack, so maybe there will be an option in the future that really does compete more directly with the 1LE.

I was disappointed too, and I felt as though Ford dialed down the GT PP performance a little too much with the small tires and soft suspension. Sucks to buy a PP car with the thought that you need to swap out suspension and tires right away to get the P out of your PP car.

I think you are right Ford was going for comfort rather than ultimate performance. I had the suspicion that Ford was creating spacing between the GT350 and the GT PP, but with the GT350 performance figures coming out, it doesn't look to me like they really had to do that.

I think the 1LE Camaro was a nice package. In the end it was the peripherals that made me choose Mustang this last time (well plus I had to keep up my Ford fan boy image). ;) I realize that ultimate track performance is not something I need as much as good sightlines and the power delivery of the Coyote just makes the car much more enjoyable to romp on compared to the more linear low end and choked-off top end of the LS whatever they put in the 1LE. Even if the internet racers can talk you down, the Mustang still has a huge fun to drive factor and I'm happy with my choice.

I do wish Ford had put active exhaust in the Mustang. That was the best thing the Camaro had that I really want.

When a preponderance of opinion

Thats your opinion about the looks. People can say the same thing about the Mustang.
....is overwhelming, the consensus is accepted as the "truth." Even Camaro guys know that their cars do not look as good as the other American Muscle choices. They are not even in the same league.

Huh? I think Camaro guys have had overwhelming support for the 6th gen. Of course there are always some that don't. Just as there were some that did not like the 6th gen Mustang. But to say that are not even in the same league is ignorant.

From the copy and pasted stale design to the now apprarently inflated MSRP's, I'd say quite a few are turning their noses up. The presence of a $49,995 GT350 is also wreaking havoc on the Camaro fanbase... I see a number openly opting for the Mustang, some even at the GTPP level. Sales will be a challenge as will profit... I'm afraid Chevy has left a huge gap for the Mustang to improve but hasn't really dove into competition level equipment yet... both have yet to explore a MGTR or 1LE. The base price will be an issue for sure...

Once the weight is released (estimate first) then the actual cars are weighed, there will be many that forsake the brand... At a minimum, most of thePill's opposition will disappear due to the overwhelming supportive evidence I provided...

As far as forum wars go, this is probably the greatest victory in the history of... I have predetermined arguements set aside for another 6 months, not including GT500 info when available...

Key word is DID....

Just as there were some that did not like the 6th gen Mustang. But to say that are not even in the same league is ignorant.
In the beginning, many people (self included) did not like the 6th Gen Stang because it did not have round headlights.

But I suspect over 90% of those have since changed their minds. I have. I've seen them next to each other. I'll go as far as saying that the 6th Gen Stang looks even better.

I prefer the retro look. But, from the side and rear, the new Stang actually looks MORE retro. The rear tail lights and curvy hip looks very much like a 69' Fastback. I still wish they would have went with round head lights.

The 6th Gen Camaro will probably be faster than the GT/PP, and may be faster than a 392 Hemi in a 1/4 mile race. But the only Camaros that look worse are 80's Camaros....and I'm not even sure of that.

A positive of living in Detroit metro area. M plates.

While on a run I saw a blue 6 Gen Camaro SS. Aside from the pedestal spoiler, which I think looks like shit on every car.

It like the Mustang is a car you should see in person. Having seen the leaked front end images of the Mustang it wasn't a shock to me upon reveal. The rear I was a little unsure of.

Once I saw it at the philly autoshow, it sold me on the rear of the Mustang.

As similar as they are, as soon as I came around the corner I immediately noticed the 6gen Camaro. Much sharper much more athletic than the 5 Gen Camaro. Still not 100% sure about some aspects of the transition from the quaterpanel. But overall I like it, not as drastic of a departure as I was hoping for; but GM is fast with Refreshes.

There is alot of cool things about the new Camaro, aside from drivetrain performance and woes, It still has better tires than the GTPP. 245 and 275 20" Eagle F1's

I'm finding it hilarious that so many over on Camaro6 are getting excited over a YouTube video of someone revving a 6thGen SS. I took a look at the video and, quite frankly, I think it sounded like half the trucks the rednecks in my area drive. I get that exhaust note is subjective, but the note seemed too raspy for my taste. I feel for the GM guys though. I have never heard a GM exhaust note that sounded as sweet as the notes from the original 5.0 or the 4.6. Even the modern 5.0 engines sound better, likely because of the firing order as compared to the LS engines. Around here, it seems a lot of people equate a LOUD exhaust with a DESIRABLE exhaust note.

Oh, well. I guess you have to celebrate something in Camp Camaro.

The 5.0 with a Borla sounds sweet. I always wondered how they could get such a big sound out of a 302. I guess it's the DOHC.

Yeah...OK. Sure we know that. The 5th gen was by far the BEST looking muscle car over the last 5 years or so. And I think the 6th gen looks better also; in a league that's ABOVE the rest. Especially the vert - with the hard cover that will conceal the fabric when the tops down, nothing will look as good as that.

But I do agree that the excitement over the revving video is a bit silly.

Says the guy that bought a sticker package on a 45th anniversary car that's only been in actual production for 37 years.

The 5th Gen looked like Disney took Lightning McQueen seriously and decided to build a car. It's comical and oaf-like from many angles and outlandishly large to be really considered "Muscle".

Not sure if you are aware but, the "Musclecar" became extinct around 1974... It's a marketing term that was built off the Retro Era of automobiles.

Now the Camaro is stuck in this imaginary class of new vehicle...

Stop speaking in absolutes. Its subjective. I feel your Camaro is hideous, I feel the 6th gen is equally as ugly. Notice what I did there? Its opinion based, not factual. You're high.
