Does somebody want to make a diy for how to take the seat apart to get to this thing? I don't mind doing mine up with plastic tubing like shown to get it working right.

I kind of doubt there will be a tsb. My taurus SHO had the same exact issue and there never was a fix for it.

Droid Junky listed the steps he took earlier in the thread. Essentially you have too unhook the 2 elastic straps under the seat to open up the back flap. To do this you have to unplug 2 wire connectors that the elastic is also hooked around. If you feel around from behind the seat it's easy enough to figure out. Just opening up the flap helps some. Probably won't get it to cool, but might prevent it from warming. After that it requires some one handed blind skill if you want to remove the blower unit. Droid recommended realizing your skill level before attempting.

How do you get to this part? Is it the upper seat back? This annoys the shit out of me the seat back heats up when i want cooled seats. Ill rig something up till ford issues a tsb and i can remove it before bringing it in.
Yeah it's not too hard. Find Droidjunky's earlier posts with pics in this thread. That's how I figured it out

Yeah i found it today and bought some of that foam insulation you use to insulate AC pipes from your home air conditioner. They come cut down the center with sticky tape to seal both ends. What i did was use this as a duct and taped it to the vent on the blower.

I didnt notice it getting hot like before but didnt notice it any cooler either. This is disappointing. Hope ford doesnt screw the first year adopters and fix all other years instead.

Bottom line is Ford owes us a fix ... they really shouldn't ignore hundreds of complaints on a problem like this.

I recommend you make sure you've contacted:

Ford Customer Service
In the United States
1-800-392-3673
1-800-232-5952 (TDD for the Hearing Impaired)
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Saturday, 9:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time

For CA and others see http://www.ford.com/help/contact/

This will ensure your complaint got to Ford, not just your dealer. You should be put in contact with your regional customer service manager for your region. They will want to make sure you've taken it to the Ford dealer for it to be checked out.

What I can see happening is Ford redesigns this for the 2017 model year. My hope is that a "new" upper cooling unit with intake and/or exhaust venting will be retroactively able to be installed in our seats. Frankly I will be shocked if a TSB is issued any time on this this year. Maybe by next Summer we may get something I hope. Until then cold butt, hot back. :(

Thanks. Nearly 700 posts in one of those threads. Looks like the same problem with those as well, cold butt hot back.

Ford sourced a POS for the upper unit if you ask me.
If you didn't know it was a truck forum it reads just like our issue. Check out post 612 and the thermal imaging of the seat. http://www.f150forum.com/f118/cooling-seats-your-seat-backs-working-properly-304154/index62/#post4241107

and post 42!!! The same damn part@! http://www.f150ecoboost.net/forum/42-2015-ford-f150-ecoboost-chat/11403-platinum-seat-cooling-issue-5.html

This is certainly not meant as a boastful post but both my driver and passenger cool on the bottom and back. My build date is 1/15. This is my first car with cooled seats but not the first time I have sat in them. My feel every bit as strong as other manufacturers. I normally do not leave it on longer than thirty minutes and I normally use the second level but I doubt that makes any difference.

It could be helpful to know if there is a cutoff date for ones that work or not I suppose. Keep an eye on it. I remember mine working when I first bought it in November then I didn't use it again until Spring and it hasn't worked since.

My build date was 2/9/15 and my backs have never cooled. Well they do but you just can't feel any cool air. So technically they are functioning, they just don't cool.

Late April build date - with little to no back cooling (and sometimes it heats).
