Ok guys I just bought 3 qrts for my buddy's 540I. We changed the fluid to synchromax and what a difference. Night and day. So I also bought 3 for my car because pepboys has 30% off. And came out to $40. My car never had a problem with shifting at all. After changing the fluid all I can say it is much smoother to shift into gears. I am really a beilever now.

Btw, I also did a free diy shifter mod.

Love the way the car shifts now.

Any update?
My car randomly seems to have an issue with second gear. It's hard to describe but it feels like it comes "out of socket" or something when it goes into second every 5 or so shifts. 4k miles
Does this sound like anything familiar lol?
Not sure, but I remember watching the video on the MGW shifter repalcement on Youtube and recall an issue people may run into. I think yours may be hitting the notch for the reverse, since it is so close to that notch for the reverse. It may need to be backed off a bit? If this makes sense? Hard for me to explain, but that may be the issue here.
Good luck and let us know how you make out!

I had no real issues with my MT82, it shifted fine but was a bit notchy, you could feel the gears bumping a bit between 1st and 2nd, and then 2nd to 3rd.

Changed the fluid and wow... smooth as butter. I did not expect so noticeable a difference, it is literally night and day. Tranny went from OK to OMG. Highly recommend taking the 30 minutes or so required to change your fluids, and the ~$50 cost is well worth it.

I followed the guide over here: http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/f392/t354755/

I used 3 quarts of Royal Purple Synchromax, cheapest I could find was on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DKTG0G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And I used a cheap pump, which worked great: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BQW5LK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If I go with the Royal Purple fluid do I also need the X18 additive?

No. The XL18 is only for factory fluids. Fluids being recommended for the MT82(RP, Amsoil, BG) have all the additives they need straight from the bottle.

Picked some up some RP and looking forward to having it installed. Hope this pans out like the clutch spring mod!

Still haven't put in my BG fluid yet. It's gotten a little better now that I have almost 7500 miles on the car, and the Steeda bracket and whiteline trans brace have helped a lot. It's still pretty notchy when cold and sporadically. I'll probably get to the fluid soon, but I've been too busy doing other mods.

just put some of the purple drank in my car, took about 2.75qt, and about the same came out from the factory fill. Only drove it around for a few miles, it feels a little smoother, but not the dramatic effect that most people had?

Yeah,....I think most people have this problem, especially if you only drive your beast once in a while. I may try the Amsoil Transmission fluid.
