True, changing cultures and desires is certainly part of it. It was less common for young Americans to think about flying abroad for fun a few decades ago. But I still think the primary factor globally is finances. The disposable income you need to buy a new V8 Mustang or to have a second (or third) car just for fun if you have a family is a lot less common.I also see those that in the past would’ve been a sport coupe buyer opt for different experiences. Such as travel, expensive restaurants, concerts, etc. I think some of it is just a generational change. They want to do things differently than we did. Cars aren’t an experience for them. Affordability is part of it for sure, but there are several 20-something’s right out of college that I know that are traveling for 2 weeks at a time all over the world. They don’t care what kind of car they drive or saving for a house. They want the travel experience now instead.
