The S550 and S650 models were sport cars that had a global target, not just the American market. And it worked. It is now one of the most sold sport car in the world.

It makes sense for Ford to want to capitalise on that global interest and the (sub)brand recognition.

If a 4-door Mustang or an SUV with some limited off-road capabilities is offered, it would be for the European and Asian markets too. Not specifically for the pickup-loving Americans.

Side note: nobody cares about the F-150 abroad. No one knows it even exists.

Big pickups are actually best "look at me" status in all countries.

Especially in Europe when Raptors and TRX rule the roads!! Cyclists run, pedestrians cower in fear, civil servants scorn, and regular folks bow on knee haha

If Ford is truly going to offer these new variations, it seems as though they’re making Mustang more its own brand.

I believe this is indeed what they are exploring. The Ford/Mercury/Lincoln dynamic is long gone, or course. I think they're indeed exploring a Ford/Mustang/Lincoln approach to growing their sales.

Now they also need to do something about Lincoln too. It would be neat if they truly upscaled Lincoln and didn't just build rebadged trucks.

which is the exact problem with the 4 door Camaro, er Caddy 4V Blackwing. Only the 5V has a legit back seat.

The 3.0 is alive and well, it's the only engine option in the explorer ST and it's also used in the bronco raptor. The 3.0 can handle quit a lot, there are plenty who are running 650+ awd hp on an Ex ST with bigger turbos and bigger injectors and pump. There is even someone who has run a 10.59 with one. That's hauling ass for a 5K lb SUV

and 97,000 engines (2.7/3.0) are on a recall announced yesterday - all units built prior to 2022. There is no fix except engine replacement. Gotta love how the supplier did bad things since they didn't understand what grinding wheels do to certain metallurgies. Material Science classes are NOT OPTIONAL you engineering people!
