I had an elderly lady pull right out in front of me. Realizing she messed up she then stopped in the lane. I was moving along at a good clip and had to put the brakes and tires to the test. Thank you God that they passed.

I needed all the 6 pistons and large rotors could give. Was able to full stop about 3 feet from her. So glad no one was behind me either.

If I was in any of my other cars it would have been very bad. I probably would have plowed into her T-bone style.

Took me a little while to recover from the massive amount of adrenaline dump.

Glad to hear the 6 piston calipers and rotors did exactly what they were intended to do and brought you out of that situation unscathed.
doesn't sound completely unscathed, there may well be an unexplained brown stain in the middle of the his recaros that will need some hefty scrubbing.

Glad to hear another one did not bite the dust.

Well, them there Brembo's and Ferodo pads are great, but they're only the start of your stop. The MPSC2 tires and the ABS manipulating the Magride shocks delivered the longitudinal negative G's that kept you from colliding.

Any braking system, including single floating caliper, that can trigger the abs, would have done the same thing
What performance brakes, such as what you have, do, is to offer repeated, high speed, braking without fading
Obviously not what happened there and a lot of misconceptions about braking systems

Hahaha no scrubbing needed but there was a lot of clinching.

Yeah she was looking right at me and pulled right out. Her eyes were huge as I came to a stop next to her. I'm sure my eyes were just as big.

I had a similar experience a couple of months ago where someone in control of a car messed up but got so scared they froze behind the wheel with their eyes huge and staring.

I was walking one of our family dogs and crossing a major city street in the crosswalk with a positive pedestrian crossing signal. As I was crossing west to east, a woman launched her SUV out of the oncoming east-to-west left turn lane at heavy throttle. She swung around the 90 degree turn and ended coming straight at me and the pet in the crosswalk. I waved my arms but the big eyes and frozen face made it clear she was transfixed, so I jumped back and she flew by.

You are right that tires and ABS have a big involvement and brakes won't stop your car without good tires.

The thing about the GT350 brakes is that the initial bite is really fast, much faster than GT brakes or those on any other stock car I've driven. I don't know if it's the way the caliper is mounted, the compound of the pads, the expensive 2 piece rotors, or a combination.

So, in a reaction emergency stop, I believe the OP is right and there is a difference in how you will stop in a GT350 vs. most cars.

Yes, it's only a split second, but it's very easy to notice the difference in GT350 brakes vs. other cars when you are driving. It's one of the wonderful things about driving a GT350. The brake feel is incredible.

Yep, can’t disagree…i have said it before, but the 350 brakes have saved either; my life, another life or a whole lotta hoopla in between at least 3 times now 😬👍🏼

I bet you it’s the pads. I have Cobalt xr1 on the front of my track car (17pp) and i have to recalibrate my foot on the street driving to and from the track. Almost scary on the street

The initial bite on this car and pads uis aggressive and it takes a few minutes to adjust to it as well.
