Screws fell in tramission well

I was trying to replace my automatic shifter. When trying to reinsert the screws, a few of them fell in the tranmission well. Is this something I should have taken to the dealer to get them to take out or is it something I shouldn't worry about?

Buy a $5 telescopic magnet , tape a magnet to the end of a screw driver , lower a magnet on a piece of string then all will be solved.

Don’t leave them in there, get them out! If you don’t have a magnet, get some duct tape and tape it around the end of a flathead screwdriver and you should be able to capture them the same way you would with a magnet.

Magnets can work well. I have several, either telescopic or flex. But in close confines with other metallic objects, grabbers can sometimes work better. The stick and tape method also works well. There's a spot in my tool box for used popsicle and ice cream sticks; they can come in handy for all sorts of things.

If you have a shop vac, run to harbor freight and get the "detailer" attachment kit. Suck it right out. (I had to present something other than magnets, but magnets would be my first attempt)

So here's an update:

I was able to use magnets to get one screw out, but not the other two. I had the car towed to the dealer to be safe. They're saying there's actually no way for it to get to the tranmission in my 2020. I am having them do an inspection to be safe, but that did give me a piece of mind knowing that.

According to experts, you usually end up swallowing them when your buddy hits you on the back. I saw a documentary called the Three Stooges where this happened with a whistle. I also learned you can punch yourself in the stomach and make the whistle blow.

Had the same thing happen to mine after a track session. Went back to the paddock and it wouldn't go into park. One of the two shifter knob screws worked itself loose and fell into the well not allowing the car to go into park. I couldn't get it out with any of the tools I had on me, so a walked around til I found someone with a telescoping magnet. That got it out very quickly. That is when I changed out the OEM shifter with a White Madness (Barton are just as good as the WM ) shifter. But I should add that the W.M. shifter uses a external combination tooth lock washer and I did use some blue locktite . Drove the car for another 4 seasons without any issues. I now keep a telescoping magnet rod in my track side tool box.
