I did Katzkins direct via their local installer. Fit is very poor so installer stuff more foam in to take out wrinkles killing the seat ventilation and heat by 70% also with mine took them three production runs to finally install the tie down stays on the patterned covers.

Construction quality is good if the manage to get all the stays on etc.

If you get them I suggest go with factory one and buy direct from Katzkins so you don't have to deal with installer lies and excuses you just call Katzkins and tell them the installer is their vendor so deal with it.

I would not order again. I would spend the extra for true custom covers though.

You can also find take offs cheap ....best bet IMO.

I just paid 300 per seat to have those areas replaced with a different color and some embroidering.

No offense, but are you gigantic or very overweight?

My 2003 Mach1 cracked like this after 7yrs and my 2018 Bullitt is starting to now. I clean my seats regularly and it's just where my pants are. Not even by my pocket area or anything its lower thigh.

It's just how cheap the seats are.

Probably be cheaper to find a good used one from a crashed car and then you know it will match 100%
Yep - keep an eye on eBay for S550 take off front seat covers, there’s usually a lot on there for very fair pricing…

I was going to suggest just that. Except the OP is in Australia so it may not be as easy as it is in the states.
FYI though, I recently saw a drivers seat bottom cover on ebay for $70. And DIY is not all that difficult, hard on the hands but not all that difficult.

So the other day I noticed some damage to my leather driver's seat. I'm just wondering if this is normal wear and tear, or could something else have caused this? Maybe someone got into my car, I don't know. FYI, my car is 9 years old, 17,000 miles and never parked outside, always garaged. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

If you want real leather, get Katzkins. Can customize them however you want. I’ve seen some pre-made sets on eBay for a decent price too.
I 2nd this, I did custom Katzkin arrangment on my 5.7 charger before joining the mustang family and Katzkin is legit. better than factory leather.

Normal for crappy quality plastic disguised as leather yes. Eventually you will wear that part of the seat from getting in and out.

There are some companies that have pretty high quality pleathers but I wouldn’t expect it from Ford.

My 85 Benz with 200k miles on it had “MBtex” vinyl seats and they were still supple and showed basically zero wear, not sure how good the modern ones are but probably not as good.

My seating position is perfect for driving but not for getting in and out. My side bolster looks like that because I hit it every time I get in and out. Jeans, belts, etc.
I am the only owner. My car is 6 years old and has under 40k miles. My other car has the same wear so this is normal for me.

Pretty rude comment. I am not.

The seat and back are leather but the sides and back may be bonded or another material. They are not as durable so wear can show. Its

I contacted a wrecker - they're only willing to sell the entire seat and they want $1800 ($1200 USD) for it.

Have you checked with Ford?
Or maybe an upholstery shop, preferably one that does automotive work?
Or Ebay? A couple of screen shots from Australian Ebay.
