For a couple thou more, you can get brand new. These are the guys I ordered my GT from. Since you’re coming this way thought I’d throw it out there

^Agree 100%.

@gedmin03 - Especially if you plan on keeping it for a period of time, buy new. You will not regret it. There are still quite a few new ones for sale. I bet you could find one you want, and not break the bank.

I did decide to pass on that car. You have all made some very good points. @BlackandBlue, I didnt even notice that the same lender was listed several times; seems pretty odd. I am working with another dealer in NC this morning, and the interaction with them has been amazing. I did find the same car but in much better condition. If anyone on the East coast is looking for a Mustang these guys are great:

Hey Adam - I live very close to this dealer. In fact, I know it from driving by that area. If you would like me to check it out w/pics, just dm me. Be happy to.

That car looks like a massive upgrade from the other one.

You might also try Granger Ford on this form. I have heard nothing but good things about them. They can spec you out one for order since you are right up against new car prices. This car for instance would be around 41.4K brand new with a manual.

I battled exactly where you are at when I bought mine. It ended up being around a 2k difference between a used 2 year old car or a new car. It always spirals though.

Edit- after reading I don’t think the order banks are open anymore.

+1 for that 2023 EG and for Granger. They’ll get you taken care of. And yeah unfortunately order banks are already closed and have been for a while now.

Looks much better. Keep in mind though, it's still been modified a bit. And the brake rotors look TRASHED like they were run hard on the track, lol. Not too hard or expensive to replace them but I'd definitely take a close look in person. A car that's been tracked a few times isn't an immediate turn off, they can handle it. But the base GT brakes definitely fry under those conditions.

Mods I can see:
Short shifter + aftermarket reverse lockout collar (biggest one, no way of knowing what's there from photos other than it's definitely not stock)
Aftermarket strut tower brace
Cervini cowl hood
Aftermarket rear spoiler
Some kind of lowering springs or suspension mods, too low to be stock

That's about all I can see. Most of those mods aren't really red flags, they're what most people do to these cars regardless. It has the factory blackout package though which is nice.

MEH. repo'd lease and most likely college kids car after that. It being in cali, is most likely why the oem manifolds went back on. It all come down to price. 4 owners one most likely a repo. A young person and a ticket or two will force them to trade it in. As the insurance cost. If they think they have gold, move on, but if priced right and you are not looking for a car you'll keep for a decade and run it up to 100k miles then.
You can find a 1 owner, depends on pricing. before carfax no one would question buying a 4-5y/o car with 19k on the clock

That is very generous of you to do for a complete stranger, and I might have taken you up on the offer, but the team there did a great job showing me every inch of the car and they knew everything about it as if they did the mods themselves. I ended up buying the car sight unseen.

The car from Champion Car Company was definitely a better and safer option. I would have gone with new, but I wanted the nice options that came with the premium and those new ones were just out of my desired price range. I was able to get this car for only a couple of grand over the questionable car in Chicago. So for about 10K less than new, I have a nearly new one with nice aftermarket equipment.

Thanks again everyone for your help. I am now officially part of the S550 family. Now it's time to start doing more mods...
