So.... I'm on my 3rd 5.0 powered Mustang in 7 years. Currently sporting a 2022 Mach 1 HP. FJG. I enjoy it. I really like the muscle car feel/vibe of the Mach. But, starting to look at the C8 Corvettes. Looking being the internet, Carfax etc. Thinking it's time to change it up a bit. What do you all think? Is the C8 in your opinion(s) worth going after or should I just be grateful I own what I own?

I had a C6 and a C7 Corvette and now I have a 2023 Mach 1, they are different animals. It will def be a change. To me a Corvette drives and feels really different from a Mach 1 or any mustang. It is lighter and faster plus lower to the ground. Go and drive one and that way you can feel the difference. Your field of vision is changed too. I like both both but in their own way.

Which C8 model? Do you plan to modify the C8? What use case, track, quarter mile, daily driver? Need more info.

I'm my opinion the engine that is more comparable, as far as technology, is the DOHC engine in the Z06. My neighbor takes his C8 Z06 to the track. He couldn't go last time since he had an engine oil leak and no part availability. I heard that the Z06 also has brake by wire so I wouldn't want to be a guinea pig on that. Tires seem wider 20 inch... check out availability on those for cost of consumables. My coworker had a C8 with the Z51 trim. He told me earlier models had issues with automatic transmission.

I attend local track events. I was able to fit a spare set of wheels, jack, jerry can, water jug, and tools in the Mustang... something I couldn't do in the Corvette.

Apples and Oranges, depends on what you want to do with either car.. The Mach 1 is a competent GT cruiser that just happens to have pretty good track credentials, especially in HP form. A bit heavy but very comfortable. Whereas the Vette is more purpose built sports car, less comfort and visibility. I sat in one once and determined just sitting in the seat it wasn't for me, just like the Camaro. Mach 1 all day for me, the only upgrade I would ever consider is a GT 500 (or GTD :) ) ....

I was in the same boat a while back when I had the GT350. My issue was that the base Vette looked like an exotic but sounded like any other muscle car and I couldn't square the two. Now the ZO6, on the other hand, sounds like it looks and seems pretty fantastic but there's a lot of extra $$ needed there and I just didn't think it was special enough to justify the expenditure.
Plus with all the Vettes out there today, I don't see them getting any special attention, not nearly what my Shelby did when I stopped for gas, coffee, groceries, or anything else, and I'm a little embarrassed to admit, that's what I might miss the most.

I'd say no. You aren't saving much weight in the C8s (those things are pigs), the only gain is being mid engine and lower, you will be faster at the track. I personally don't think mid engine is appropriate for a Corvette, it should have been called something else.

I also don't like how GM kept the trunk, but wanted to make an all out track machine. Truck and track machine should not go together. I think they missed the mark.

The rest of my comments on the Corvette are purely personal opinion. I would keep the M1 HP.

Realistically, this is a Mustang group, so I don’t think it’s the place for no bias.
Personally, I think the C8 is not a very good looking design. In fact I think it’s weird looking. Better than the rolling 100K cyber dumpster though, but similar imo….If you go to a vette group you’ll probably get another perspective. People love them. I‘m not one. C7 Grand Sport different story. 98% of the C8’s don’t get a second look from me unless I’m just curious why someone would buy it.

My friend bought one at the same time I got my M1. I enjoyed it but personally just wasn't my kind of car. I also really just love manual transmissions and will probably be one of the last adopters. Test drive it and see. You might love it.

From a pure performance perspective, the C8 is great. From an overall driving experience, I find them to be quite sterile. The DCT is phenomenal and GM’s shift strategy is on point (much like Ford and the DCT in the GT500), it suits the car. But it’s not an exhilarating experience, and least not in the same way as the Mustang or prior gen Vette’s.

The early C8’s did have some transmission issues but I believe that’s now been rectified. It’s a DCT, so maintenance and repairs will be a pretty penny compared to a manual or even a standard automatic transmission

All great feedback! I am not someone who tracks their cars so I'm thinking that for regular around town driving visibility would be an issue.... and the Corvette being lower to the ground would be a literal pain for getting in and out. I appreciate everyone's time providing their thoughts from a Mustang owners perspective!

The only reason I am curious about a C8 is to "join em since I can't beat em" on track.

But on the street or for a long drive? Any Mustang is preferred.

I remember a thread here somewhere about someone who was properly advised not to trade his Mach 1 for a base Corvette.

Having driven the M1/hp, gt350, C8 and Z06, here is my 2 cents(and it’s worth about that).
A manual transmission is best for connectivity to the car, regardless of speed or cornering ability. The C8 was insulating and numb. Yes fast, etc. but it was like I was a passenger.
The Z06 was amazing, but the price?? Ouch.
The M1 is an outstanding package, and engaging; good price. The 350 just hit all the marks.
although it should not be part of the decision, you have to ask yourself what group you most identify with.
personally, I don’t see myself as a Corvette or Porsche person. A bit too much blue collar in my bones.
You know what they say about the difference between a Corvette driver and a porcupine.. :)
Good luck,

Good luck,
I like the reference to "blue collar." I get it. I do like the more raw experience with the Mustangs. More of a loud in your face feel to them. I'm thinking of packing away the idea of making a change at this point. Appreciate the input.
