Winter came and the battery died while stored in the garage.

I just hooked up my reliable battery charger and the headlights and dash lights are flashing. there's buzzing and beeping. the sensor arm on the charger is swinging way hard from charging to the red and back.

WTH did I do wrong???

Thanks in advance,
David

Right now I'm attempting a jump start. I think it's the alarm system trying to tell me Skullduggery is going on...

I'm +2 for fixing battery while it's removed from car.
Remove and charge or remove and replace.
Don't forget the BMS reset after battery install.

Yeah my F150 does the same if the battery goes flat dead. You really need to disconnect it from the car and charge it. Usually they don't come back when that low. You may want to replace it all together and just not mess around. Also, I'd check your car for a parasitic draw for it to get that low in the first place.

It’s the process that allows the vehicle to know that it is no longer attempting to maintain a battery with a low charge, which is important for the systems in these cars 👍🏻

Actually the BMS reset should only be done if you're installing a new battery; then the system knows the battery is at zero in age. If you look at your stats on a scanner, it tells you how many months the battery has been in the car. As the battery ages, the system alters the charging voltage, etc. to compensate for sulfation, etc. as it gets older. When you install a fresh new battery, it resets the charging profile. I would only do the reset if you're putting a new battery in it.

As for recharging the battery, it's always a good idea to charge the battery when it's disconnected from the car, having both cables removed as someone mentioned previously.
