MT82-D4 Shuddering When Taking Off From 1st gear

Good afternoon/evening all, I have encountered an issue with my transmission, I haven't had any issues with third gear lockout or grinds recently. I have encountered an issue when taking off from a standstill, the car shudders when I am letting off the clutch especially at the bite point, whether I'm giving little gas or lots of gas, it always shudders right when or after the clutch grabs, and it only happens in first gear, no other problems once the car is moving on the road and in any other gears. I've read that hotspots on the flywheel can cause this, is there anything else that causes this and would I need to replace the clutch/flywheel/said parts immediately or can I just drive it how it is for some time until I can fork some coin over for a new clutch?

You can still drive it. It may smooth itself out over time. If it’s a high mileage car, you might start saving for a clutch now. They’re all ridiculously high.

Yeah I barely have 15k miles, I did have the shudder pop up on me last month and it had gone away, then it recently returned again, this time its been a couple of days of the car shuddering when taking off from first. I planned on swapping the clutch down the line but not this soon.

My 2015 GTPP MT-82 has done that exact same thing since I’ve owned it. 80,000+ miles and still the exact same as when I bought it with 18,000 miles in 2017.
Clutch still bites hard and I’ve had passengers ask what performance clutch I installed……. Answer, stock FoMoCo !!

Try feeding it a little more throttle and releasing the clutch a little quicker to see if that helps. The other thing I was gonna ask it, does it occur on hills only or flat road too? Wondering if Hill Assist is turned on, as that can cause shuttering too.

It occurs on both hills and flat surfaces, I have hill assist turned off, I've also tried switching up my 1st gear technique and I could minimize the shuddering but its still there no matter how hard I try to smooth it out.

@GregO is right, just live with it and not to worry too much about it unless you notice slipping or other issues with the transmission/clutch.

Wow 80k I'm already thinking of buying a clutch at 14k miles for when it bites the dust lol

Mine is kinda like that, it is a bit grabbier and chatters more when hot. Imo it's a non issue. As above, if you take off with more throttle it's usually smoother. The stock twin disc just grabs like a crazy chick off her meds I guess.

I've had the same issue on and off. It will happen for a couple of days and then smooth out for awhile.

My car sits a LOT especially in the Winter and as a result surface rust appears on the flywheel........this can and does cause a little chattering but usually goes away after a few starts from a stop......nothing aggressive just normal driving!!

Hopefully you haven't overheated the flywheel and warped it??

Fluid contamination can also cause a shutter in the clutch. Engine or transmission. Could also be brake fluid from the TOB.

Yeah that is clutch chatter. My 2014 had this since maybe 30K miles? I got it all the way to 130K miles no issues, it would do it mostly on a hot day when feathering at an incline. I wouldnt worry about it unless its major chatter. Heck my Mach 1 very rarely does it and I have 30K miles right now.

Sounds like clutch chatter. A lot of times happens when you let a clutch slip too much when getting the vehicle moving. Give it a little more gas and let the clutch pedal go faster. Sure it might not be as smooth, but it will do wonders for clutch life. Now I'm not saying drop the clutch and stall either lol, just be a little more assertive when taking off from a stop.
