video of the original secondary tensioners, the guide plates (black thingies) have been rotated for artistic effect, they were parallel to the chain. New tensioners fitted were of the superseded type and smaller in length which did cause some panic in the beginning but quick set of PM's to @LevittownFordParts who supplied the parts confirmed all was good with the kit, just Ford had updated parts, wonder why eh ? AS i posted last night, hopefully this is the end of the crappy running and Princes Ford stops shtting itself cause damn this stuff aint cheap (but way way cheaper than Ford UK who didn't even know the phasers are different exhaust / inlet ! ) All chains / VCT's / Phasers / tensioners and every damned rubber seal from timing cover to valve covers also replaced.

One ting to add, if anyone else is doing this work, get a new dipstick tube as well cause it'll save a tonne of time and it costs peanuts to add to the entire kit

Checked under it for oil / coolant leaks and found nothing nor did the garage smell of either. Checked oil and coolant levels, oil fine but defo needs changed (which grade of oil for a 17plate GT) coolant was a little low so topped it up and will monitor. Drove it, felt smooth no issues but it still sounds like a bus at idle.

I would try the later grade oil (5-30), and if it’s still a little noisy, try some ceratec :like:

Yeah i reckon 5-30 is the way forward. Went shopping tonight and opened the boot and forgot i had the original phasers and vcts in there. Wasn't a big shop thankfully. Wonder if there's a market for used phasers / vcts haha

As the ‘what did I do to my Mustang replacement’ thread seems to be strangely missing, I’ll post this here :)
Full front end Xpel PPF completed yesterday, I can breathe out now and tailgate people again 🤣

Went to GT101 again today for my seven year service and MOT.
Did have to splash out on a new battery but with the original nearly seven years old I can’t complain.
Still no brake replacement yet(51814 miles).
Great service as always from David,Lee and the team. They always give good advice and never do unecessary work so I trust them completely .
They aren’t local (286 miles away)but its worth the trip apart from encountering the HGV knights of the road on the A14 taking 10mins to pass another truck going 5mph slower.

Oh yes and if you can’t afford a Ford GT they have half of one in the showroom see pic

Wavetrac and GT350 half shafts installed today at GT101.

The wavetrac feels lovely. Before you'd feel like you had control of a slide then suddenly the behaviour would change, but with this they're just so smooth and controllable.

I've got a tiny amount of rotating metallic whining or something with the windows down above 40, but that's fine.

I couldn't believe how much slop was in my diff before. It made the car horrible to drive, was just jolting all over the place. Now it feels tight from front to back.

They also found the cause of the horrible rear creaking, the Steeda subframe bush spacer had worn through the rubber and was hitting/rubbing the subframe (I think!), so they removed that. Noise all gone now. Weird for an aftermarket upgraded part to fail like that. They said the BMR kit was a better design.

sounds a great result all in. Mine is away for a boring service, 7yr one and 5-30 oil getting chucked into it.

anyone know the AC and the main serpentine belt part numbers? It appears I have no AC belt and the serpentine belt is looking a bit worn and recommended replacement . Sigh

edit:
think the alternator / water pump belt is 6 Rib Multi V Drive Belt 6PK1715 Gates 11288573253 FR3Z8620B
AC belt is 6PK851 ?

I've often thought about a Wavetrac. Seems like a great piece of kit, although seems like not as popular as other rear diffs. Keep us updated as you drive more. Remind me, are you NA or boosted?

Yeah, they seem popular on Golfs, and I've seen good feedback on them for other cars. I heard them described as like a Quaife ATB, which having had a BMW before seemed like the go-to.

I'm supercharged, so putting some torque through the diff (I'm guessing leading to the premature wear on the standard one).

updated SYNC 3 to whatever Ford was giving out, worked first time (a first in itself) noticed zero difference but i'm sure something has changed. AC belt and alternator belt received so they are getting fitted Thursday, hopefully the correct belts and hopefully no fitting issues...

Thinking of doing an exhaust mod and have come down to either Borla S type axle backs or flowmasters outlaw. Reading online it looks like flowmasters are louder but more drone. Has anyone got them in UK?
Bearing in mind the car already got H-pipe and not planning to change that.
Also, want to keep the valve system so the Roush option does not work.

I prefer to go with the louder option and then manage the noise with the valves to some degree
