looked at the empty space in the garage where the Mustang should be. Damned cars, slight hiccup with getting the parts fitted so empty stable for me. Be at least another week before the extra parts arrive and everything gets fitted. Note to self: buy more parts than you think you need when they are needed removing to get to the bits you do need to replace lol arghhhh sigh :( Think I'll go eat worms

Wish I had some pictures, will take some when I'm done (if I ever am).

Ordered a Wavetrac diff and GT350 half-shafts. Hopefully fitted in the next few weeks.

Painted my brakes, came out good enough (not a pro finish, but nice enough).

Put braided lines on the front, don't want to do the rears as lots of stories of them being overtightened from factory and being a proper pain.

Need to do a full flush and bleed on the brakes. Going to do it with some Mobil DOT4 to get a complete flush and all air out (brakes are proper mushy to the floor right now - don't worry, I'm not driving it!), before putting in Motul 660.

Also did a full clean, polish and re-ceramic coat, as it's been three years since I did the last one.

Not fallen back in love with the car yet. Hoping that I can get the brakes back to being firm (and usable). Hoping it's just air from the new braided lines and not another problem. I haven't bled them yet, but it's not doing a thing, so slightly worried something else has happened whilst working on the brakes. Also need the diff and half-shafts back in so I can stop hearing not nice noises and be confident driving the car again.

Half tempted to get a cheap lease car just so I can stop getting so frustrated with being immobile when the car is having issues. I do fear that might be the end of my time with the car as I'd then be able to get something else more compromised. Lets hope I can get the issues fixed and it's not a longer issue.

I hope you fall in love with it again … :frown:

Please let me know how you go on with the installation of the diff - who does it for you / the quality of service you get / if the gears are quiet etc :like:

Thank you! (If I don't I'll reserve the brake fluid reservoir cover for you!)

It's GT101 doing the work. When I was there a few weeks ago (getting the noise checked out) they were installing one (or had just installed one) on another car. Always had great service from them. Fingers crossed it solves it. They said the diff was making a bit of noise (and described the noise I was hearing) and that the driver side (US passenger side) half-shaft had more movement than the other side, and that it was more than expected. Reading around other sections on here it seems common with higher power cars, and later/faster cars all had beefed up half shafts just on that side.

i have the same feeling re mine, even before the rear end hit (Dec 2022) I was looking to sell it then i got it back and wanted to sell it but a drive in the Highlands last spring convinced me to keep it and then it started being a right Princess and now i could torch it lol. Hopefully like you when i get it back all will be right with the world :sunglasses:

I think you have had a worse run than me! When it works and you can enjoy it there's nothing else I'd rather have. Can fit my kids in the back, my daughter (3) is obsessed with it, and my son (1) just laughs and giggles in it (with the occasional cackle). Just when it's off the road, and that feeling of dread comes over, "oh god, what's broken now", I just hate that feeling.

I bled the brakes this afternoon, all back to normal. Didn't do an ABS flush, but will do that when I put the Motul RBF660 in it later in the week. Hopefully then with good discs and pads (recently upgraded), braided lines (at the front), and decent fluid it'll stop like nothing else.

A month or so ago I had the wheels painted in gloss bronze, will share a picture of them with the new caliper colour once I've cleaned the car (unbelievable amount of dust from the Hawk DTC-60 pads). Looks amazing!

yeah my other half thinks the Mustang is pretty cool as it is different and doesn't fit in with other cars here which is pretty accurate. No kids other than the big kid that owns it heh heh.

TBH if i'd just bitten the bullet and thrown the car into the garage and said fix it, it would have been sorted this time last year. Getting all hung up on having no error codes (crap reader didn't pick the p0024 up) I just half assed hummed and hawed about it as i didn't want to spend the money and find out it wasn't fixed and be chasing faults forever. Dumb eh ? The rear brakes went phut last October IIRC so that was a bit of cash to fix then I hummed and hawed some more as I'd stupidly bought a 2nd car in May last year that i knew needed some cash flung at it. Oddly enough when it arrived and the Princess Ford complex came out. Cars eh, who knew they had feelings 🤷‍♂️

Glad you have your brakes back, that's high up on the list of things to have ha. looking forward to seeing the pictures of the wheels (cleaned of course lol)

It doesn't look like it, but the 5.0 and the calibers are matt gold

A better picture of the wheels in the sun (instead of by work light at night)

Got some Hawk 5.0 pads to pop in for street driving, and will swap back to the DTC-60 for the next track day. Dust is crazy.

Got it back.... No duff fuff stumbling on acceleration at low rpm, no crappy throttle feeling after gear changes, vct and phaser cam timing showing all cams behaving as they should with mere degrees between matched pairs (acceptable limits). Still sounds like a bus at idle so dunno what the fluke is going on there. P0024 be gone forever

Only thing that was found in engine that raised eyebrows was a leaking secondary chain tensioner on bank 2 (the problem bank). Everything else seemed ok. Guess we'll know soon enough if all finally sorted.
