Tin foil hat? Follow the money. Every scientist who shows facts that contradict MMCC gets black balled and ridiculed.

You must have been raised by captain planet and the brain washing from the schools. I'm old enough to remember the consensus was we were heading into another ice age. That didn't happen. Then NYC was supposed to be under water by 2020, didn't happen.

Start thinking
Based on the things you believe, I can tell we're most likely at an impasse, so we're probably wasting each other's time, but... Please show me some evidence of these "blackballed" scientists. How many were there? What were there findings? Were their studies peer reviewed? (Scientific journals are not government affiliated, so I hope you're not about to add those to your conspiracy theory). Also who was predicting NYC would be underwater by 2020? And when?

I take it that means you have no evidence (I've linked to plenty of laudable evidence on my end), but I'll play along -- which questions? You haven't asked me any questions, only suggested wild theories about how the world is out to get the most profitable businesses to somehow... make money?

I've played this game with the zealots before. Every link you post is gospel and anything I post will be picked apart. You will discredit the source, find a spelling error and call it rubbish.

Sorry I don't play anymore.

My question is "what is the climate supposed to be?"
What it is today?
What it was 100 years ago? 1000 years ago? 10,000 years ago? 100,000

or some point in the future.

there was an article just a couple days ago where they figured nearly 30% of food ends up trashed. USA was on the thick end of the spectrum
Interestingly as this will sound this past weekend I was at a powersports swap meet and met a person that works in the food composting business near Racine Wisconsin. This company has a contract with the regional Walmarts accepting all expired/unusable food products. They recently purchased equipment that separates and sorts the packaging from the food before the first stage of composting.
Again, a great way to process organic waste but it’s a very energy intensive process.
I’ve heard over 70% of our world’s energy is used to move and transport water.

It would have been if they hadn't put it on pontoons in the 90s.

Many believe 9/11 wasn't a terrorist attack but joy riders not factoring in the increased altitude of buildings as the pontoons rose.

So people who try to understand science are "zealots"? What does that make you? Anyway, give me a try. I won't comment on your source, I just legitimately would like to see it. I like debating in part because it is often a great way to learn new things or see sides of an argument you otherwise wouldn't have considered.

Of course having said that, I'm not gonna lie. I'm highly skeptical of your evidence (if you even have it) because I, too, know how these discussions have gone in the past... but I'm keeping as open of a mind as possible, wish you would do the same.

To answer your question, the global climate, on average, is supposed to be roughly 1C (sometimes up to 1.5C) less than it is currently. This comes from the "pre-industrial baseline" (late 19th century benchmark).

and the clouds of methane that result, too. Forget cow farts! We need to ban composting!
/sarc

70 just to move/process water seems high, but the amount of energy and fresh water expended in the growing of food be it plant or animal is massive. I guess we should just go back to hunting and gathering of crickets and bugs like the good ol' days.

I tried 'fishing' for bugs with discarded McD meals. strangely enough, I couldn't get flies to do their business. Now a nice fish head left out in the grass attracted much interest.

Maybe if Cobb builds methane controllers for food recycling plants, they can curry favor with the EPA overlords. I mean, an efficient adaptive combustion of methane into glorious CO2 and water vapor is far more desirable than the unregulated "let nature" Laza Faire approach?

Please recount the beliefs you discovered were false that way. Something more significant that learning Maroon Five sucks.

Does that take into account the Jurassic period? Ice ages? or is it some arbitrary time grab that proves their theory?

More blather and dooms day preaching.

Did you know NASA (put on tin foil hat please) stopped publishing some climate charts when these charts proved man made climate change was wrong.

Composting can produce methane, but less than those same materials would produce in landfills if they were just thrown away...

Anyway, I know you jest, but I do think bugs are going to re-enter a good chunk of the world's diet before long! Lean, low cost protein... Personally sounds repulsive to me, but I hear crickets and ants are delicious. Hopefully our kids won't have our same mental hangups.

That's coming dangerously close to an on-topic post.

Re: Ice age (?), I have no idea what you're even asking anymore nor how it's relevant. And I'm not sure you do, either. I think you're trying to argue via obfuscation at this point? It's fairly simple -- evidence shows that the earth warmed by over 1C (almost 2F) in the course of less than 200 years, which is much more than any natural event would have caused in that time.

I'm really trying to understand your conspiracy theory. Can you explain to me how the money (that you've apparently followed closely) would want humans STOP consuming as much? The money generally prefers the status quo to increasing degrees -- keep buying the same stuff from the same businesses, just buy more of it, and all the newest widgets.

I'm still waiting for any sources. The wonderful thing about the internet is there's proof of some of the kinds of things you're talking about, like web archives for purged articles.

if my kids or grandkids are relegated to eating bugs out of necessity, I consider that a profound failure of me/my generation to forcibly terminate those who wish to destroy the progress made by western civ.

Places like SE asia harvest rats from cane and rice fields for their protein needs. And bugs too. But mostly because they can't afford alternatives and without refrigeration and being too far from the coasts, fish is not available. In Japan eating grasshoppers cooked in sweet soy sauce is also not uncommon. I've had my share growing up there. We also eat spoiled soy beans and call it "good" as well. And the Norwegians deliberately let perfectly good cod spoil and rot, only to dig it up and then eat the gelatinous mass.

Somehow I don't think modern man wants to return to boom/bust dietary intake. Or the return of wide-spread pestilence, early death, and eating spoiled (nee fermented) food because they have no other option.

not only that, they kept eliminating the rural weather stations and increasingly rely on units in the middle of concrete jungle heat blooms. Hell, they even had one on the roof of the Grayhound bus terminal in downtown Pittsburgh. And used the high heat and concentrations of diesel particulates to decry impending doom.

Climate "scientists" that are currently bankrolled to support the AGW argument are as dishonest and incompetent as they come. Everything they posit is a lie or wild distortion. "old guy" scientists with actual Nobels (from before it became a participation trophy) to their name have called out the disgusting perversion of 'science' to little effect.

If you really believe the '97%' trope, you clearly didn't read their methodology which was beyond laughable, and you haven't bothered to read the papers exposing this utter farce.
