I’m not sure fuel would have an influence, but maybe there’s some truth in the oil ?

I’m not an oil guy but there’re is a thread currently running on here where people are buying euro spec oil - I haven’t looked what the differences are, but I wonder if it’s enough to control the tick a little better ?

Ref the additive - first time I used one bottle (300ml) which is about half the recommended dose for the gen 3’s oil capacity. The recommended dose is 300ml in 5 litres (they charge for 9.5 litres at my service).

My service was only on Tuesday and my bottle turned up from Amazon this Thursday. I will likely dose it tomorrow, I added it mid drive last time so it got time to mix well before shutting the engine down - I was thinking about using half a bottle, but will probably just dump the full lot in again, A) for ease and B) so I don’t have another half used bottle of car chemical hanging around in the garage … lol

I might just use the whole bottle for the same reason, letting it sit on the shelf for a year and then not trusting it at next oil change seems kinda pointless lol.

I did notice tick wise it was worse with mobil 1 ep versus the valvoline I was using before. So next oil change I plan to go back to that and then see if I still need ceratec.

Even without the tick, it sure quietens them down a little.

For whatever reason (I hear oil spec might be a factor) the euros don’t seem to suffer from the tick, but I decided to run it from year three onwards as a long term wear protection measure.

My wash routine is always the same - wash, start the car, pull it down the drive, lift the hood, then dry under the hood shuts / battery cover etc whilst the engine is running, then drive off.

I wasn’t expecting anything, and wasn’t looking for a noise benefit, but after adding the stuff, it did seem to quieten it down and smooth it out a little - I was quite surprised.

As as side note, my car is a 20 and was originally on the 20w oil. At the last service we switched it to the 30w oil and if I can trust the invoice, Ford U.K. (or at least my dealer) is currently using Shell.

Which ceratec are you using?

Changed the oil in my transmission with Motul DCTF. The fluid that came out was still pretty clean and in seemingly good condition. I'm guessing it could be Amsoil MTF because the previous owner used Amsoil engine oil.

In my post-change test drives, it's a noticeable difference in how the MT82 feels. It used to have "gritty" shifts that weren't terrible, but it felt like I could feel the gear meshing through the shifter during changes. Now, it's just smooth. And the driveline clunk seems to be reduced, too. Not bad.

Finally managed to get my hands on a clutch pedal extender in the U.K. (thanks @Corporate_Rebel) :sunglasses:

I removed the anodising and added a brushed finish, and as it’s going on a RHD (so the bolt heads are now on show rather than hidden), I also replaced the black steel bolts with some stainless bolts that I polished up, and spaced the top bolt out as it was hidden down the bore.

It matches the existing pedals quite well, along with the aftermarket foot rest, and the other anodised bits that I had previously done in two tone :

They are pretty much impossible to get hold of in the U.K. (I’m not sure where you are based), but a stateside member was happy to ship me over a lightly used one.

If you are stateside - CJ pony has both the plastic and aluminium versions.

As a side note, I really like the new driving position. I’ve been able to move my seat 40mm further back whilst still being able to bottom the clutch. The other pedals and wheel position are perfect for me.

Pushing the seat further back allows me to get in and out without touching the Recaro bolster (I can’t open the door past the first notch due to where I park) :like:

Thank you for reply, I live in West Wales so I'll order one from states. Popping the seat back a couple of clicks is exactly what I wanted 👍

Hand washed and dried her today. I have a membership to a local place and it's good, but not great. Every once in a while, I HAVE to do it myself or I feel like I am neglecting her. My paint is so banged up on the front and hood from road debris, it drives me crazy, so that is part of the reason I don't do it more often.

My rear camera by fitcamx keeps falling down. What is the best double-sided tape to use so I can not have to climb back there to re-attach it again.

I use 3M #5952 and 3M #5925 in high-strength situations...so the cam should be well within their ranges. Of course, make sure to clean first with a non-residue cleaner.

What Snakebyte said and you may consider using 3M adhesion promoter. Expensive, but works great.

If it keeps happening I will make a bracket and bolt it to the shark fin stud.

Changed plugs and oil over weekend. Castrol Edge 5-30 and Motorcraft plugs. Uk model, passenger bulkhead end plug was fun.
