Forever car. This is my second vehicle in life, and I plan on building her into a monster when she gets to her last legs...I want to follow in @honeybadger 's and @Flyhalf 's footsteps one day. Definitely the guys I look up to.

She also has a story:

Two years ago I bought my second car after saving for a few years. My first was a 1995 Honda Accord EX Coupe I bought at 14 (she sat pampered in my garage until I was old enough to drive her). She developed transmission issues (these Honda models had automatics made of glass) so I sold her and bought my neighbor's 2016 Ford Mustang V6 for a smoking deal. This mustang was babied, washed every other day, and had 16,000 miles on her. Why didn't I get a V8? Insurance in California for a man my age with a mustang already is shocking, even for a V6. I will take the (now 90ish or so) horsepower hit and enjoy my lighter V6...I crave the V8 but love my girl too much even after driving a few. The previous owner (bless his soul) passed away a month before I bought the mustang, and his wife's nickname for the car was...you guessed it...Cobalt Filly. License plate coming soon in their honor.

I was warned not to touch those (yet) did some calculations with some forum members and found my top speed/2nd gear speed to be perfect for autox/track as it stands now due to 19x11s. Will be coming back to those mods later on.

My plans are to eventually turn her into a dedicated track car I can keep forever! One day I’ll get a pickup to use as my daily driver so I can quit driving the Mustang. Then I’ll be able to pretend I’m @Flyhalf and start getting stupid serious with real race car parts

I bought my 2023 assuming manual V8 coupes wouldn't be around for that much longer. I don't see myself going to the S650 so unless something changes and gasoline becomes 10 dollars a gallon i dont see getting rid of it anytime soon. The V8 is too addictive, and anything that would compete against it in terms of fun, sound and feel would be far more than i can afford.

That’s pretty cool. My first foray into the Mustang world (I was previously a 25 year GM only guy) was also an S550 V6. Bought it in January 2020 right before Covid hit. Had it for 2.5 years until I ordered my GT. It was a fun car and the weight difference between the V6 and V8 cars is noticeable. The cyclone engine is about as reliable as they come and they take boost well if you go that route. Procharger has a good setup for the V6.

But the V8 was calling me as it almost always does. Test drove several Camaros (SS, SS 1LE and ZL1), a Poo Pack in both Charger and Challenger form and a couple 2018+ S550 GT’s. If the visibility in the Camaro wasn’t so god awful I’d probably be in the SS 1LE right now but I just couldn’t get over it. Charger/Challenger, while being torque monsters, felt like their well deserved land-yacht moniker.

If electric vehicles actually catch on and become more the norm, you’ll see electricity rates skyrocket before you see $10/gallon gas. I just don’t think most people think it through when they think they’re saving money by not having to buy gas. Electricity ain’t free and they’re probably charging the car every day or every other day.

I had my 06GT since new as a DD until auto trans died in 2020. I custom ordered my 21 GT/CS with MT82 and analog gauges in June of 21. At 67 yo this will probably be my last stang. I only have 8000 miles on it and my son is in the middle of his 1968 Shelby clone build so I’ll have best of both worlds. Plan on keeping it for my grandson!

Same here. My oldest Grandson (age 7) keeps talking about the day when it will be his. Of course the younger one (age 5) is not going to just let him have it.

Maybe it's measured in years, maybe in miles. Whatever your reasons Do you have an end date with your current car? Or do you plan to Barn it at some point and never let go
