Anyone running a 5* tune? Just curious if im getting the full potential out of my car. I have a 16 manual mgw race spec shifter, with gt350 intake manifold, ford performance 47lb injectors, airaid closed airbox cai, borla s-type 3in stainless catback with i believe an x pipe, & a five star e85 tune. my car runs great & the guys at five star have been absolutely awesome. I am not trying to bash there tune at all im just wondering if maybe their tunes are a lil conservative or smthen? My car has always felt quick but not necessarily as quick as i thought it should.
I just picked up a 2009 pontiac g8 gt that as far as i know only has corsa catback & if feels every bit as fast if not a lil faster than my mustang? I know its hard to tell just by feeling but i can tell that they are closer than they should be? I thought ive read that with the gt350 im, injectors, & e85 tune it should be at least around another 50hp? Which should put my mustang with at least another 100hp over the g8? which should feel much faster. So now im wondering if i should try a diff tune? Just wondering if anyone has any experience with a 5 star tune vs another?

I have never heard of a 5 star tune. Where did you get it from? Do you have a link?

They (5 star) specialize in f150.

But why are you making by guess and by golly statements? Strap both cars on a Dyno and get PROOF to corroborate your finely tuned butt?

My Audi gives up 100hp but feels faster. The Stinger hauls the mail and it's not at coyote power levels either.

Numbers don't lie, butts do. Esp when connected to a brain desperately seeking confirmation bias or clinging to the sunk cost falacy.

Yes i agree about not being able to tell just from feeling but unfortunately there isnt any dyno shops around me & i dont really have the time to drive 5-6hrs round trip (closest dyno) just to see if my car is in the ballpark of where it should be. I was just curious if anyone has ever had a 5* tune & then switched to a diff tune & if so was there a noticeable diff? I dont really have any buddys with mustangs or anything really to compare my car too. Thats why when i drove the g8 i was surprised that it felt so close to if not faster than my mustang. I plan on doing some timed 0-60 with my torque pro app but even if they aren't as close as they feel ive still always wondered if a diff tune would make a big diff or not

Srry unas2k5 i missed your question about 5* tuning but shogun32 is correct they specialize in f150's. If u just google 5 star tuning they pop right up. I had some tunes from them for my 5.0 f150 & was happy which is why i went with them. I didnt know at the time they weren't known for tuning mustangs & now im curious if thats because other tunes make a bit more power or smthen?

I used them for a 91 octane tune. I'm happy with it. I've had zero issues and it feels a little snappier then before. I decided to try it because 3 tunes were under $200. I may be down a few HP from other tuners , but I may not. My car runs hard and is reliable.

The coyote does not have the low end torque that the G8 does so it feels slower.

I thought my coyote was blown up till I took it to a drag strip and it ran 114 Mph. This is the slowest feeling fast car I've ever owned.

5 star are great guys and will bend over backward to get you right. They will not blow your car up. Lund might get you 5 more HP but they will run the motor on the ragged edge. Not worth it IMO unless an all out race car.

I've used 5 star tuning for my 5.4 Expedition. I liked it. I even have a few tunes from them for the Bullitt. No driving issues when I was running them.

Ya i think im just used to the mustang power plus i cant get the mustang to hook up which im sure is most of it. I am happy with my 5* tune & they absolutely went out of their way to get it dialed in for me. I think once i get better tires on the mustang & dont spin so much it will feel & be much quicker. Also I think i was a lil surprised by the g8 & it made me think smthen wasn't right with my tune or my car. But im pretty sure its just because the g8 hooks & my mustang spins.

The LS low end grunt is fooling you. The Coyote lives above 4500rpm. Get the draggy and see the numbers. You're falling for that torque down low, but your Mustang should walk away from that G8 above 6,000rpm.

I used to run 5* on my F150's, then when I got my explorer ST, I went with 5* again. The best I ever ran was a 12.59 with their tune. I then heard about ZFG, so I switched to his tune and ran a 12.09 in the same explorer that used to have the 5* tune. Major difference. Not to bash 5* because his tunes are good and are one of the cheaper tuners out there, but ZFG is lightyears ahead especially on boosted engines like the ecoboost.

Conservative isn't necessarily a bad thing though
