3DP a representation of this IR sensor to see if its possible to mount near the brake rotors.

Looks easy enough to mount. Front to rear would be different, and you need 4 correct? One for each wheel/disc. I think keeping the lens clean would be a challenge. Maybe rig it up with 4 LED's that will indicate your approaching overheating without having to look at a readout.

Started off the day with planning on meeting with a local mustang group, had a slight break in the weather so I took the car. Enjoyable time, good peeps, looking forward to upcoming events.

Afterwards, wife and daughter wanted to get their nails done but needed cash, so I ran over to another local store in the car to run inside for a purchase and get cash back.

A slide grade to the parking lot, set the parking brake and walked inside. Came out 5 minutes later and walking through the parking lot and I see an eerily similar car as mine way off in the distance. Peculiar, it even has tinted taillights. I bet the owners were laughing as they mixed up my car being so alike as theirs, as a couple of guys were looking at it.

Eerily similar. Hell, it even has the same license plate as I do. My heart sunk.

Across the parking lot on the slow roll, picking up speed before going over a curb and smacking a tree with the front end. Missed all the other parked cars and the tree stopped it before going into roadway.

It's a kick in the jimmy. Both because of my ego but now plans will have to be placed on hold because of my carelessness of not setting the parking brake all the way fully.

Swapped the GT and the MGB GT in garage. Gonna take the MG to my indie for a going over so it's all set for spring. Bought it 18 months ago and has moved since then. Spent an extra $10K +

Al the gaps still look pretty nice, so could be a lot worse. Good chance to fix all the rock chips you may have had.

I always leave my car in gear plus the parking brake for this reason (unless I'm handing the car off for service lmao)

I've always left in gear in the many years past but once I got married, I couldn't risk it. Wife is able to and does occasionally drive as well, it's not a practice she is use to. So I modified how I did things.

That makes sense. Maybe a good time for you to both get used to it now. Or you can just check your parking brake cable tension more regularly. Over time they stretch a bit and need to be readjusted. I doubt this was really a case of you not pulling it up enough.

Appreciate the vote of confidence but at the end of the day, it's my screw up. Time to go do some home projects and get my mind off of my trauma from earlier 😜

@compprep do you track your car?
What hood vents are those?
Did you cut your hood extra to fully utilize them?
If you track, could you determine their cooling effectiveness?

i only really care about getting data from one rotor, and only during track time. i already have an Arduino setup for two channel thermocouple logging. I'm sure i could do a screen for temp readout, but i would have to learn how to do that and it seems like a distraction while driving

I have the same hood vents, zero extra cooling. Only one of the vents on each side is open. The other just honeycomb inserts but aren’t open. Would be nice if they were all open (and thus required larger cut outs in the hood) but alas they are more for aesthetics than function.

Got it, you're just datalogging. I think the brakes will let you know soon enough when they start to fade from overtemp. Which rotor would you pick? I would think a front to begin, then move it to each corner if desired?
