Does anybody know if the OEM Handling Package wheels are flow formed (they're certainly not forged, lol) or are they just a cast construction? Differing opinions on it https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/2021-mach-1-handling-package-wheel-obsession.143549/page-5

Thinking about these Apex https://apexwheels.com/vehicles/for...Size=19x10-et40&rearQty=2&rearSize=19x11-et52
vs. these Ford Performance https://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-pe...set-with-tpms-sensors-mustang/p/M1007KMACH1H/

I can comment on the Apex wheels. I used the EC-7 for track. A lot lighter than the Ford Performance wheels.

Thank you. I think about 7-8 lbs lighter per wheel (Apex 23-24lbs; HP wheels 32-33lbs). I can't speak to whether this is noticeable on a 4,000+lbs car (with driver) but I like the idea of having a stronger (in construction) wheel and one that is easier to clean.

Yeah I suppose if I lost 30 lbs I would get the same results and it would be a lot cheaper.
The EC-7's are just over 24 lbs and the HP wheels (rear) were around 32 if I remember correctly. I purchased EC-7 ET52 with 2 spares and used 1" spacers for the front to make up the front offset. I also used GY Eagle Supercar F1 3R -305/30/19 and went square. So I have some spares if I mess up my tires on track and can use them front or rear.

I'm hesitant running spacers and extended studs (would trigger needing open lugs I think and causes wheel bearing issues). Have a set of barely used staggered Cup2s laying around and don't think I'll be running the car often enough to go through tires like crazy and that being able to rotate would save me huge bucks. Might be wrong though.

Funny you should say that. I had a front left bearing fail last year and got it replaced under warranty. Where did you get this information from? I would like to investigate more as this could be the reason of the fail.

I went through my Cup 2's after a few track days. That is why I switched to the Eagles that are much cheaper. I also have another set for my rear 325/30/19 and they work well.

Plenty of info on this on the internet, e.g. https://suspensionsecrets.co.uk/why-you-should-not-fit-wheels-spacers/ Seems to be a controversial topic. Could imagine that this has been extensively discussed here on the forum but haven't gone down that rabbit hole yet. Just trying to decide now - during the Apex sale - what route to go (staggered vs square). What Eagles are you referring to?

Okay thanks for the link. I read through it. I am no expert BUT I can understand if you increase the offset therefore altering the position or as they mention the scrub radius, you will put the extra stress on the bearing etc. But because the front offset is 25mm, by adding a 25mm spacer on the ET52 wheel, you get a 27mm offset bringing back the wheel to the exact same position (well almost by 2mm). So you wheels don't poke out any different and the scrub radius is the same. The spacer puts the wheel back to it's original position.
That's my thinking but then I could be missing something.

Yes, that's how I look at it, too. But then I remember reading somewhere that wheel bearing failure can lead to a serious accident (wheel seizes). Not sure if they fail from one moment to the next or if one could tell that they're gradually getting worse. I guess with age comes anxiety, haha.

When mine failed, all the assists on the dash disabled showing many errors. They said it was the Tune Ring and sensor and the dealer replaced the entire hub. Let's hope we don't get any of these bearing seizures.

That's scary. Glad to hear nothing happened.

A lot of high end used wheels out there for sale, couple sets of Apex over on TrackMustangsOnline I found these Forgelines local for a reasonable price. They will get track tires and serve that purpose.

Actually you wouldn’t get the same results if you lost 30 lbs. It’s much more significant to lose 30 lbs in the wheels for two reasons: it’s rotational mass but even more important it’s unsprung weight. This is why people drop major coin to shave every ounce they can off their wheels.
