2017 to 2024 Stang Worth it?

Just getting feelers out there. My sales guy told me this morning a 24 just landed.

For those whose has a 17 & driven a 24, is the drive noticeably different? I understand the more tech that the 24 offers (I’m a youngish guy, I like tech)

This^ there are lightly used 20-23s out there for a bargain compared to new…or just keep what you have. Obviously new is appealing but in my opinion the increased cost that comes with it isn’t worth it for what you get.

There’s probably a noticeable difference between a Gen 2 coyote and a Gen 4. I didn’t notice a huge difference between my Gen 3 and the Gen 4 in the S650. If you like tech, there’s some cool stuff in the screens. I’d suggest a GT premium so you get the single screen instead of the 2 iPads. Looks are subjective but I like the look of the S650 overall. The cube headlights would take some getting used to and that’s probably my one complaint on the exterior as far as looks go. Interior is comfortable.

I wouldn’t trade my 2022 for an S650, at least not for a few years (never say never), but if I still had my 2016 I’d trade it for an S650 for sure.

There’s still new 2023’s sitting out there too that can be had for a good deal if that’s the preferred route as well. I don’t think there’s a wrong answer personally. A 2023 is still going to be a good cost increase over a 2017, so assuming a 2024 fits the budget I think cost increase is somewhat irrelevant in this situation

Realistically, your best bet is to go drive one yourself. Asking people here or over in the 7g forums will likely give you predictable responses. And none of them may align with your own preference.

LOL but Mags those cube headlights are reminiscent of the Lincoln Continental Black Label headlights.

OP I do agree though that if you like tech I'm sure the new car will certainly be a worthwhile upgrade. Like Mags said though, if you are going to upgrade definitely get a premium model so you get all the techy stuff you like. I would be sad if you upgraded to a new base car and eventually regretted it because it didn't have ENOUGH tech for ya.

But of course looks are subjective. Our performance numbers are lower than the facelift gen so it is a give and take.

I didn’t spend a ton of time playing around with the screens in the base or premium (maybe 10 minutes or so each) and a lot of the information/gadgetry seems to be the same or very similar. The biggest difference is the single screen in the premium vs the two screens in the base. Neither one looks as bad as the pictures make it out to be but the premium screen feels like it was integrated a little better.

I drove a premium vert with the top down and there was no glare or blinding laser beam into my eyes from the sun to the screen so however they did that it was well thought out. The vert still doesn’t look the greatest with the top up to me, it’s hard to replicate the coupe roofline with a soft top and that really helps out with the visuals of the car, at least for me.
