The entire suspension and rear wing are all part of a shared hydraulic setting to allow for the two ride heights (ala Ford GT) and the activation of the rear wing and adjustment of the front diffuser. I suppose they could offer a package without these items, but that seems weird.

You think it'd be possible that they could offer the entire hydraulic system without the wing?
I mean Porsche seems to do well with 'touring' specs otherwise why would they make the effort to make them.
I guess I could see them have the active wing and not include all the extra aero bits, but I do agree on the weird wording. Well in the meantime I hope I can get a taste of the GT3 when Assetto Corsa 2 comes out. Unless ACC just surprises us, which I doubt at this point.
Am I the only one who wants better angles of these CGI shots of the components, I feel like its so hard to determine perspective in certain locations in these images. Or maybe I'm getting old and need like x200 zoom or something to that extreme.

If this thing was an M4 GT3 it would be seen as a great bargain. It's just the Ford and Mustang badges that makes it seem awkward.

I agree, and I think it’s the Mustang nameplate in particular. People think race car when they see Ford GT, not so much when they see Mustang (and least not a true race car). I’ve been seeing a bunch of people comparing this car to the GT500 so that tells you where most people’s minds are going.

I have zero insight into how Ford marketing and their long term planning works, but even when the Mach-E came out, my initial thought was that Ford used the "Mustang" nameplate to broaden the name to younger generations. I'm still of the idea that Ford sees "Mustang" as a name that can expand across all platforms and purposes (although it is weird to see a Supercar level Ford product with the Mustang name).

I welcome the broad use of the "Mustang" name and refuse to act like Ford owes me any sort of exclusivity to what I think a Mustang should be.

It's no more a mustang than the Mach E is a mustang. Sure it looks fairly similar to an s650 but the similarity is literally skin deep.

Mustang as crowd mower and only useful in a straight line will remain firmly entrenched in the world's minds.

I think you’re seeing similar thinking from GM with the rumored Corvette SUV. Use the brand recognition to expand the platform and reach a broader audience. And it forces competition which is always a good thing.

Oh yeah, I forgot about GM doing that That makes sense as well. It might upset the "purist" (whatever that means since Mustangs and Corvettes have gone through numerous revisions/models/trims over their lifespans), but I see where the appeal sits. My fiance would not want to have a 2-seater Corvette, but she sure as heck would dive at the opportunity to have a Corvette SUV, because A) it carries a cool name, B) it would likely be sporty and carry her vintage shopping haul, and C) she doesn't care what "Corvette enthusiasts" think.

....and I'd buy her one!

I'd go eyeball it, judge them for having perfectly smooth tires, ask how it is in the track (knowing full well it's never been), all the while being wildly jealous, while trying to act unimpressed.
