this. It’s a k-type thermocouple connector for engineers measuring temperature. No one used thermocouples in production. The author should just not.
The author wants clicks and "likes" so...

But yeah, I bet they're datalogging spool temperatures. Looks like it would be a pretty busy spool valve.

Also, that shock is sexy.

Motor Trends article....

In the example photos from Ford, you can even see some of the ongoing development work. The zip ties are holding a yellow K-type thermocouple that is most likely being used to record surface temper of the damper, along with a heat-activated sticker to serve as a visual indicator.

Don't get me started on the probes....

... or maybe yes, what are you probing at? :cwl:
I had a 1994 Ford Probe GT I drove for a few years back in the day. It was fun little car.

Looks like it's securing a sensor or terminal block of sorts, and wiring. Its definitely not holding the suspension together as the 19yo writer explains.

I know English majors aren't very bright, but yeesh!!

That is totally ghetto. The yellow block is being bent (that'll go over well for longevity) and furthermore there is no loop for the wire that enters the yellow.

Finally it would be trivial to make a contoured platform that molds to the rounded tube and presents a flat(ish) surface for the block. But if this is a thermal couple that need direct contact, you can still accomplish a 'platform' with some reasonably soft O-ring sections.

My shock dyno guy uses infrared to read the surface temperature of the shock body.

While I wouldn't trust just 1 zip tie, 2 is plenty. And given the angle of the band, I'll bet anything a little wiggle and the whole thing will become quite loose.

The shop floor manager needs to whack somebody upside the head for a shit-ass job.

That a lot of extra work for what was a temporary solution for one test. It's just unfortunate that Ford's marketing team showed up and demanded access to the test mule for B-Roll footage while the testing equipment was still installed and now morons out there are making a mountain out of a molehill as none of this will ever be a part of the production unit.

Those morons just want likes and internet noise. Like the writer.
