I'm not sure since I had a Whipple setup. You can either call/email Procharger and see what they use in their kits, or you can take out your current MAF and see what it is. I'd wager that you have a "from the factory" Motorcraft/Ford MAF sensor.

You can try cleaning/replacing the MAF. That was my very first step before eventually finding the blown fuse. You can get a can of MAF cleaner or simply buy a new one from Ford. You can also try cleaning/replacing your filter if it's old as well.

I've had a 15' WRX and a 19' STI. The STI was heavily modded and arguably my favorite car I've ever owned. The older JDM ones have always been an interest to me due to their "analog" feel. So yes, I agree that light weight with the right power combo is ideal if going that route.
