Hopefully there’s some trickle down to the cars we can actually buy at some point
Yes, that would be nice instead of something that serves no real purpose. The CEO of Chrysler put cars like this in perspective: "we have more minivans fall off trains than we sell Vipers in total".
The GTD is a complete "meh" for me.

I think it’s badass for the Mustang brand… all of the Mustang’s competition has completely gone away AGAIN and Ford is taking it to a whole new level and making history. None of us will be able to afford this thing but I don’t think that matters… it’s the fact they’re bringing out new stuff and not being lazy

It’s probably wishful thinking on my part, but we can dream 😁

Ford is wanting to compete with Porsche and amg at the track. In order for them to do that, they need a street variant of the track car. This is basically a loop hole, make a limited production so they can produce a different version of the track mustang to compete with Porsche and AMG on another level and best them. This is interesting, this is not meant to replace the gt500, but it's cool to see where the mustang will be headed.

Lots of rumors - Will this be like the FORD GT where it is only offered direct from ford through lottery type submissions? no doubt these will be sold way over msrp by most of the greedy dealers out there.

Haters won't be hating when it beats Porsche or shows a strong opposition to the European models folks, this is Fords way of challenging the world, heck even vette for that matter. Ford went radical and instead of doing more with FordGT, they went ape-shit and doing it with our models. Folks this is a win for us loyal brand members and helps prove mustang isn't just a drag car. They had to build it in order to qualify for GT3 class racing, furthermore they are going for LeMans! If one can't see the pure balls Ford did to make this then maybe jump over to Honda........

Yeah, its times like this where I'm glad I'm working at Ford, but at the same time that Price, I know it doesn't turn profit but for someone like myself, I want more enthusiast vehicles. Sucks being a finance analyst who literally see's both sides. Imma just blame American's in the mean time on why we can't have more cool vehicles.
More enthusiast vehicles? There are like 4 shades of Mustang street cars from the ecoboost to this thing and that's before the S650 chassis even hits the streets. You know they'll have more special models in the years to come.

Then you have the Dark Horse S, R, and GT3 available if you want to go racing with factory built race cars. What more do you want from one brand and model line?

Personally I'd like to see Ford get rid of the basic models like the eco boost.

Purpose-built car that I am sure will perform well on the track. Looks are subjective (I personally think it is pretty ugly). Whether the price is justified, will be determined by the other cars it beats or doesn't.

You gotta sell a lot of volume, and those move cars off the lot to underwrite the costs of the wilder models the same way the 911 Carrera and Carrera S are the backbone that supports the GT3RS and the like.

I think it's a stupid move. A mid engine car to compete with the Corvette would have made more sense imho. And $300,000? Ridiculous. How many true Ford enthusiasts can afford that?
