Your garage is beautiful man! I move around too often to consider spending the money, but hopefully I'll be settling down soon and can build one heck of a man cave/garage!

I used to do pads and rotors myself on jack stands all the time. Brembo is about the easiest to change as they come. It may have been difficult for you but it is not a difficult job. This is just a bit of an overreaction. But congrats on the new brakes, I know the feeling.
There's no overreaction, it was 6 hours of awfulness. It doesn't matter who is doing it, you can't see the bolts to get the calipers on and back off, unless you get the car up on a lift high enough to work from the back of the brakes.

Plus, my car is 4 years and 37,000 DD miles old, not some garage queen toy.

Was this your first time changing brakes? Were you on a lift or actually doing it on jack stands?

Quick jacks. I've changed many brakes, but not on this car until last Sunday.

Thanks, I love nice garages. Hope you get yours sooner than later. To be honest with the exception of the floor of course and 2 Mach 1 banners everything was brought over from our previous house, it looked exactly the same. Had RaceDeck floor in the other garage which a local member purchased from me.

Isn't that the case for pretty much most of the cars with regular single piston brakes? They all have bolts that you cannot see. You completely remove a caliper/piston assembly first, then pads, then bracket that holds everything in place. It's 4 bolts total. Then pop the rotor and re-assemble it back. What is different about ot for Mustang? I'm geniunely curious now :)

With rear brakes, yes, that's the way.

With the front brakes, you can usually turn the hub assemblies and get eyes on, and better access to, the two bolts that hold the calipers on. But with the Brembos, that doesn't happen. The hubs don't turn much, and the bolt heads are buried/recessed.

You're just doing the whole thing by braile if the car is down low, and can't see what you're doing from the back.

Keeping in mind the weight of the rotors, calipers and pads, I was attempting to hold the rotor on with one hand, the caliper/pads with the other, and start the bolts with my 3rd hand. Eventually Shogun found a wheel-stud nut to hold the rotors on, but that wasn't until I was on the 3rd corner of brakes.

Changed the stock rear end out for the Mach 1 diffuser with the scoops underneath the car, rock guards on the wheel well, and then the Mach 1 Mufflers. So much better visually, slightly deeper and louder exhaust note (paired with SW headers and the gt350 x pipe)
I wanna hear a video of that!

Not a great video but this is one I was sent when I took my old man out for a drive on Fathers Day

Thanks! Sounds awesome man. Literally exactly what I'm going to do, but I have an H pipe.

Even with quick jacks 6 hours is a LONG time. Maybe invest in some good power tools, this might speed things along. I also recommend a good shop stool so your back doesn't give out. I can change my rotors and pads on all corners in about 2.5 hours on jack stands. Given a good power tool I could probably get that down to under 2. Anyways sorry it was a pita for you, but I promise it will get faster as you get more practice.

Get back to me when you do it. And after you've DD'd your car for 37,000 miles. Garage queens don't count.

There will be no more practice. I will pay to have it done in the future.

I have many times after track days... I don't need to prove it to you.

I'm sorry you can't understand that the average time is faster than you did it. There's nothing wrong with taking 6 hours to change pads, but don't come into a forum ranting about how horrible of a job it was and expect people to give you a gold star. Everyone on this forum agrees that some jobs take longer than others on jack stands, but brakes is not one of them.

Grow up a little, take the advice more mechanically seasoned people have given you, and move on.

I didn't just change the pads. Get back to me when you grasp what was done.

You not agreeing that a complete brake job on these cars shouldn't be done on jack stands/quick jacks, tells me you've never done it.

Rotors and pads all the way 'round.

And here's my suggestion to all who may consider doing this; if you have a 2 post lift where you can get the car up to eye-height, professional-style, go right ahead. It's pretty straight forward work.

If you do NOT have a 2-post lift; do not try this at home on jack stands or Quick Jacks . It will kill you. It's an awful job to do, as you're doing it by braille. Just terrible. Write the check and let the dealership do it.

And a huge shout out to Shogun who helped me get it all done at his facility, and endured my cursing through the whole thing. It was a very kind and generous gesture.

Anyways....despite all the pain, there is a tremendous amount of satisfaction to drive with new brakes that feel awesome, that you installed yourself.

Even if it damn near killed you.😂
So you did or didn't change the pads? Which one is it.

Pads and rotors is 2.5 hours for me.
