Anyone getting belt slip? I am running the 120mm at the moment with the belt supplied from ESS. I switched to E85 this week and noticed my maf load dropped from a peak of 1.8 to a peak of 1.5 and the sensor went from maxing out at 86.68 to now hitting 75. Also I have some rubber shavings around the pulleys and just noticed what looks to be the start of belt damage (photo below). I don’t see any indication of rubbing anywhere and the belt is on the proper rib.
I would change out the belt for a new one and see if it still slips. The rubber shavings are a sign of belt slip or pulley misalignment.

I was wondering if @daSNAK3 was also suffering from belt slip, as I would expect more boost and more power with the 120mm pulley.

Also, for the video/sound from the rear, I think the noise may be coming from the differential and you may need to change your differential fluid and make sure you add Friction Modifier!

Good Luck!

Get yourself a griptech pulley. Not only does it eliminate the slip, it allows you to reduce the tension on the belt and still achieve adequate grip, which reduces the load on the crankshaft, idler pulleys, alternator etc.

The biggest griptech pulley is a 100mm though so not for the guys on the more conservative side of things.

You should not be getting any belt slip at all with the 120mm pulley. The only way that’s possible is if you have a severely damaged belt, a contaminated belt (oil/coolant) or a broken/ extremely weak tensioner. You can run down to the 100mm without any worry of belt slip. Smaller than 100 we recommend griptec to be safe. Which belt number do you have? I would remove and inspect your belt and tensioner.

They will make any size you want, they can also add the micro tooth/machining process to any pulley.

Here are the belt sizes and part numbers if you need to order another. Also see if you can get a gates green belt instead.

In your case I'd switch to their HD green belt like all the other brand blower kits do.

Any suggestions on differential oil and friction modifier?… anyone?

Thanks Brevin! I identified a small leak on the coolant line directly above the belt. Likely enough to contaminate the belt while the coolant system was under pressure. And if it was slipping, that can explain some of the wear I’m seeing. New belt will be here tomorrow 👍.

I’m having some noises coming from the rear end, I was thinking it might be the thrust washers, and while looking into it, I came across a thread on here that mentions they have been known to cause a variety of DTC issues when bad.

During the dyno pulls, I was inside recording and my GF was outside and was recording, I didn’t look at her videos until right now, and noticed my rear tail lights were both going crazy, not in sequence with each other or anything, I’ve never seen that before, I know they unplugged the plug under the hood for the ABS for the pulls, I’ve been looking at other dyno videos online from the rear and have not seen anyone else’s taillights going crazy like mine were…

My question is do you think there is any relation between the possible thrust washers being bad and taillights going crazy and my car not wanting to pull past 6600 rpm?
