I concur with the group, someone put a hard 60 on that poor horse before you got the keys. Do you have any photos of your delivery to show it was preexisting? might help with Ford corporate.

Cold it's noisy, and inconsistent feel in the stopping, but does stops fine. Once I've driven 10 or so miles and the brakes are warm it sounds normal, but still feels like its got inconsistent pressure during light braking.

So, literally 400 miles on the car now? Your 340 plus the 60 prior to picking it up?

Yea, i'm more than a little disappointed that the dealer balked at doing anything. Of course when they measure it will be within spec - there's only 400 miles on them. If that is the only metric they use to determine if brakes OK, that's scary!

Even worse is it sat for 7hrs on an 8:30am appointment and the response I got from them is "they''ll probably spray some brake cleaner on it". I've got a case open with Ford now and an appointment with a different dealer next week. Hopefully it'll be resolved at that point.

I never understood that... leave the car all day and they call at 4:00 to say there's an issue and they have to order parts.

Really? Why didn't you get it on the hoist in the morning when I dropped it off and order the parts then so they could be delivered and you can actually fix it the same day as was promised.

No, just a base model so I had the exact same brakes. I even told that to the service manager. These feel way off compared to the same car I drove for the last year and a half. He kept pushing that Ford won't accept any warranty work on brakes under 3k miles and that this was normal and will go in as they break in.

Not broke in because the guy who drove it to the dealer glazed the pads.

It depends on how deep the glazing is. I would replace them.

Again this is just from looking at your photos. This is why in an earlier post I said to look at the pads.

If you have a local small shop you trust have them look at the brakes before you take it back to Ford. Best to come armed with a diagnosis in case this dealer says something different.

As you have nothing to lose, try Fords own procedure (admittedly for the Brembo cars) :

I don’t see any hotspots from a botched break in.

Was the car sold New or Used? Looks like the rotors haven’t been entirely broken in yet since you can still see machining marks.

are you using the brakes hard sometimes or babying it?

if the car sat for a long time, that would explain a lot of the rust.

i honestly think they will be fine in 1000 miles. I don’t see any evidence of anything which would indicate that the brake pads won’t wear the rotors down and bed in properly in due time. Its not the miles but the usage which will wear that rust off. If you don’t use the brakes it won’t wear that stuff away.

Im not thrilled with so much rust on a basicslly new car but I don’t know what conditions that car sat in or for how long.
My friend recently put fresh but rusty as hell rotors on his porsche, and it took over a month for the oads to resurface them, and he drives pretty hard.
