Maybe I missed it - but what is the reference to the "transmission disconnecting"?

---

Also to note; the latest 10R80 TSB 22-2339 was released in September 2022:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...cent-tsb’s-in-here.102918/page-6#post-3670916
Disconnecting is an incorrect term but is an accurate description of what happens to my Mustang once heated. While driving, either on gas or coasting, the transmission will disengage, and re-engage, it'll be rough like I just money shifted.

Here is the video showing it happen twice in a row:

Is there a way to find out if there is a tbs on the 10 speed in the '19 Rangers, I'd like to know before I go in for an oil change.

According to the latest 10R80 TSB released in Sept. 2022, Ranger is noted as being affected. See here - which is from the 10R80 TSB thread:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...cent-tsb’s-in-here.102918/page-6#post-3670916

The above link for 10R80 TSB's is located in Post 1, Page 1 of this thread; focus is S550 10R80, but sometimes other Ford products are noted in the actual TSB.

Just checked my transmission fluid. Dipstick was at #6 and I added half a quart to bring it to #4. Running temp at 100 for test. Did the adaptive learning and battery memory procedures. Car runs smooth now compared to jerky/agressive shifts.

Are there any tuners (either in southern California or who offer remote tuning) that offer 10R80 tunes that really clean up the shifting behavior? I'm wanting to clean up the skip shifting, the insanely rough (locked converter) 3-2 and 2-1 downshifts, especially when triggered manually with the paddles.

I’d go with Juggernaut. They are awesome. Shift’s beautifully!

Thanks! I'll only add that my "issues" occurred at the tail end of a 60-minute drive back home from Los Angeles, so the transmission was fully warmed up. But, I also can't remember exactly what I experienced, so I'll just need to keep driving it to gain complete perspective.

I'm not really bothered by anything, it's more that I want to make sure everything is as it should be. For example, I saw the thread about transmissions being low on fluid from the factory, and I want to be sure that's correct sooner rather than later.
So, an update... I went in to get my insulation cover installed (that was left off at the factory for whatever reason) and my initial oil change after the break-in. I asked them to specifically check the transmission fluid, and it was 1-2 quarts low.

They filled it, performed the "accelerated break-in" procedure which I guess resets the transmission tables or whatever. The technician told me to expect some harshness while the transmission reprogrammed itself, but I noticed on the drive home that Normal mode is now incredibly smooth. The harsh 1-2/3, 3-4, and 4-5 shifts are completely gone and every shift point is what I would expect. That includes cold and at both low and mid-throttle (it's raining out, so nothing crazy).

Sport mode was also smoother. The shifts overall were harsher, especially at low throttle, but the only shift that "bucked" like before was 3-4 and that only happened a couple of times. It was better at mid-throttle. I'm hoping that any residual harshness will work itself out.

Bottom line: unbelievable that the factory would send so many cars out with low fluid. But getting it topped off makes a huge difference and would probably fix many of the problems people are experiencing. If you haven't had yours checked yet, I'd insist on it.

It's amazing to me that the workers at the factory are still not filling the transmission fluid correctly. I thought when the dealership does their final inspection of the car, they check and inspect all the fluids?
BTW - my new 2023 California Special arrives later this week and/or first thing next week.

Apparently dealers don't inspect ALL the fluids, maybe because checking the transmission fluid requires getting it up to operating temperature and putting it on a lift. There are enough examples of the fluid being low on this forum to indicate it's a pretty widespread problem that's been going on for years.

I explicitly asked my salesman last week, and he said, one of the things they are supposed to check is the transmission fluid level. However, I agree with you that most mechanics will not take the time to check:(
I wonder why the transmission fluid level keeps coming to the dealerships low? You would think after multiple complaints over the years that they would make sure it was filled correctly at the factory. Maybe someone from here can chime in on what the procedure is at the factory when they fill the transmission fluid? Is it as simple as just adding a required amount of fluid one time, or does it take multiple attemps to get the correct amount in?

Way back I the late 90's and early 2000 BMW7 series had the same issue. I remember taking mine back at least three times before I gave up and found a dip tube that someone fabricated for it. I bought and installed it and found out that when the car was at operation temp the trans was still 2 quarts low. I added the fluid thru the tube and the car was perfect. I wish somone could do that to our A10's. If there is one out there somone please let us know

It's truly bizarre that such an issue could keep recurring.

Yes, agree 1000% to the above….

I still can’t believe that S550 10R80s are still coming off the assembly line low on fluid, being sent to Selling Dealers and those Dealers are not checking ALL fluids as required during the Dealer checklist process.

This has been probably the #1 factor to harsh shifts, as many 10R80 M6G members have even found that by checking the fluid levels themselves - it was low.

I have 54,000 miles on A10 GT. Recently I have started noticing something in low-speed driving.

When I am driving the car in D, and the transmission is either in 1st or 3rd gear and I am creeping along at 5-10 MPH and I touch the gas pedal to accelerate, there is a clunking sound and what seems like a harsh engagement of the clutches/trans. I can replicate this easily and this happens no matter if the trans is cold or up to temp.

Anyone experience this issue? Seems to me like the clutches are wearing out but that's just a hunch.
