Honesty really depends on what you want to accomplish. Ceramic is essentially just an extra durable clear coat on top of the paint. It’s still going to wear like clear coat in that sense, as in it will still get scratches and swirls, and will do basically nothing to protect against rock chips, debris, etc. It does help to make overall cleaning and regular maintenance easier though, which is nice. Ppf obviously is more protective and can help prevent more damage from rocks, and when it gets worn enough it’s easy to replace and look as good as new. More expensive, but the value depends on what you want. Personally, I don’t really get the hype of ceramic when there are so many products available to treat your car yourself and get great results, I just would never pay for it, but if you’re not into doing stuff like that it may make sense. Plus many people are very happy with the results, so it’s really preference. If I were choosing one, I would spend the money on ppf just because I HATE getting rock chips, and if I could prevent some I would. Regarding the hood stripe, others can confirm, but I believe FJG is the only color you can put ppf on the stripe because it is a smooth texture, whereas the decals on all the other colors have a rough texture. It will get air bubbles underneath and not look good, and the stripe potentially could be damaged when removing the film. So I would say cutting around the stripe and leaving it exposed, or maybe just doing ceramic on that stripe might be the best option.
I agree 100%. I’m leaning towards PPF on the front and cutting around the stripe. The detail place I’m using is legit (they train PPF installers here in the region) and I’m meeting with them soon. I’ll post an update as soon as I have one. Thanks!

I've got a matte piece on my FJG hood and it looks great. As for any other color, I would avoid due to bubbling.

Has anyone recently had their order go from ā€œin productionā€ to ā€œbuilt,ā€ or are we all just stuck in production? I know some of you have been waiting like this for even longer, but mine first said in production on September 1st, and was produced as of September 16th. That’s when modules showed up, I could see the car picture in the app, etc. but there has been no news since then at all. Can’t tell if there’s still something that needs to be done, or if it’s just waiting for shipping at this point, or if the tracker just isn’t being updated consistently now, no idea. So just want to see if this is the case for everyone, maybe there’s some hold that no one knows about? That seems somewhat unlikely though as it appears as if the car should be about done (I’ve been told it’s ā€œproducedā€ and while one FP person told me that’s different than built, another said it’s the same so who knows).

Perhaps me - I was "in production" when on the 15th I got the "supply chain..." delay email. You had pointed out it was generic and not to be overly concerned :)
On the 20th I got the "built" email & the 22nd "shipped"

EDIT-Aug 16th email "scheduled for production"

Yup, although I’ve gotten no emails about this order for some reason, I guess it wasn’t set up correctly when I ordered. I’m sure I also would’ve gotten that generic email as well, but yeah I do remember seeing you say yours was built soon after so I feel like you’re the most recent. Did the tracker also update to reflect that online? Or you only know because of the emails?

The tracker was updating before the emails. In fact the tracker says "Built 9/19" but I got the email on the 20th. Tracker seems more reliable, especially in your case

So far, that’s pretty typical. Goes into production about a week before blend date, and for me it was 3 days after the blend date that modules showed up. The next week I found out that that was the same day it was updated in the system as ā€œproducedā€ but even now, 12 days later, it hasn’t moved to built.

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding ppf v ceramic? I am picking up my Oxford White M1 on Thursday and likely will do either PPF on the front or ceramic on the whole thing. I really don’t want to/can’t drop $3k to do both. Any recommendations on this?

Also, any recommendations regarding the hood stripe? The PPF installers here in Dallas are saying that they can either 1) install PPF over the decal resulting in a ā€œsmallā€ air gap at the edges or 2) cut the PPF film at the edge of the hood stripe.

many recommendations would be highly appreciated! Thanks!
Can’t comment on PPF, but for $70 I ceramic coated mine the day I brought it home and a year later water sheds off it better than any finish I’ve ever seen. Wash, iron remover, surface prep and ceramic. No paint correction. Carpro CQuartz UK 3.0.

Been following this thread for 7+ months now and decided to join because I'm unsure what to think anymore. Had my order confirmed at the end of January and have reached out to Ford Performance for the last two months, and my car still doesn't have a build date. I've been at priority code 10 since June. Is Ford going to be able to fill all of the orders for the PP Mach 1s? I know it is the dealership's only allocation for a Mustang, so I'm thinking I screwed myself on that end for an extra $1000 off the car.
