Hey guys & gals - I have posted some of this build under the "What did you today..." thread but felt that the things I encountered during the build would be beneficial to others if anyone wants to go this route. I have some recommendations and cautions for you. I believe this is going to be a great end result however it was not without issues. With that I recap the build and the process up to today in several posts below:

Purchased from JDM Engineering in Freehold NJ - (I originally was going to have the installation performed here however my step son works for Ford about a mile from home and got me a pretty good rate on the installation of all of the below.)
Whipple 2021-2022 Mustang Mach 1 Stage 2 Supercharger kit WK-2627-STG2-30
2015 + Mustang GT 5.0L KOOKS 1-7/8" Headers GREEN CATTED OEM Connection - 1151H231
Purchased from BMR online
BMR-TR005H Toe rods, rear, double adjustable
BMR-CB762H IRS subframe support brace
BMR-TCA048 Vertical link, rear lower control arms poly bushings
BMR-WAK761 Rear camber adjustment lockout
BMR-BK055 Bearing kit, lower control arms
BMR-CB005H Cradle bushing lockout kit
BMR-FC003 Camber bolts, front, 2.5 degree offset
BMR-SPH765 Lowering springs, set of 4, handling version GT350
BMR-MM008H Motor mount bracket
*BMR-UCA762 Camber links, adjustable, poly/rod ends, billet - added 1/6/23

Now for the fun part :)

I picked the car up from Chapman Ford Horsham PA on October 29th. On November 30th or December 1st I dropped the car and all above parts off at the dealership. The technician (James) began to assemble the Whipple head unit along with the injectors and other pieces that accompany the head unit. Of course he also removed the front bumper and much of the front assembly that is necessary for the install. On Friday December 2nd he needed the ID to register the unit with Whipple for the warrantee. He was having a problem locating the serial number on the unit. It was late on Friday and JDM was able to give me the location spot.

On Monday December 5th I received a phone call from James advising that he felt the head unit was not the correct part as the bolt holes on unit did not align with heads properly. It was only one bolt that was not in the right spot, but an obvious issue.

I contacted JDM to discuss the issue and after some back and forth including photos, JDM confirmed the serial number on their invoice was not the same as the ID on the unit itself. They contacted Whipple and we learned that the head unit serial ID was for an F150, not a Mustang. Please note the packing list was for the F150, but didnā€™t say ā€œF150ā€ on it, and the instruction manual in the other box with the airbox, fuel pump etc. was for a Mustang (not a Mach 1).

I wanted to return the entire shipment for the correct one. I was told that most of the parts in the F150 kit are interchangeable with a Mustang. A JDM employee who lives close by, came to the Ford dealership on the 7th to ensure the correct pieces were sent back to Whipple. He took the F150 head unit back to JDM for proper handling. Whipple sent a new head unit to Ford along with a few of the different hoses needed for a Mustang, not an F150. These arrived Monday December 12th.
During this down time, the dreaded cold & flu/CVD season caught up to the shop. Several employees were out delaying the build a bit. However over the next several days the headers and motor mounts were installed.

Tuesday December 27th I was advised the Whipple was installed and James got it started, but coolant tank was the incorrect part. After exchanging some photos and such Whipple felt the tank was the correct unit, so James proceeded with the install. They felt he had the tank upside down, so he flipped it over and the brackets all matched to the places where they should but not without issueā€¦

In the above pictures of the oil cooler it may be hard to see but the (Whipple) coolant tank is touching the oil cooler. James said not a huge issue but he doesnt think they should touch and the coolant tank isnt right. The tank location causes the hoses to be in the way of the Whipple provided airbox. The hoses sit too high.

Coincidentally James called Whipple again to discuss the positioning of the tank. As they pointed him to the instruction booklet, it became evident the booklet is for a Mustang and there is supplemental booklet for a Mach 1. This was yesterday December 29th.

I went to check it out with James and the airbox does not fit, he showed me that in order to drop the airbox in, we would have to trim the bottom edge of the airbox and fabricate another bracket to move the coolant tank a bit allowing room for everything to fit. While Im not a fan of this approach, there really isnt much else we can do at this point. He said he would sahve some of the plastic from the airbox and close it up again where he shaved from. More pictures and details coming later. I am supposed to take it home today.
*Front springs still need to go it also.

Just remembered the Whipple recommended oil filter does not fit. It is too "fat" for the space and runs into the oil cooler housing.
Here it is compared to the stock filter (black).
JDM advises they use the stock Mustang filter on their boosted coyotes and it works with no issues

Thanks for sharing, I will make sure to inspect all parts carefully before having shop install it. Kind of disappointing the fit issues after your fork out 10k. Look forward to the rest of the story.

So moral of the story is whipple has not fixed their QC over the past 4 years.

Sorry for all your troubles and hopefully all the extra shop hours didn't cost you a ton of extra labor

This was a part of the problem and maybe I didnt explain it well enough above. The parts for a 150 almost identical to a Mustang except for a few. The packing list matched what was in the box. The packing list itself was basically a few sheets of paper that look like they were printed in Word. So the list matched the parts and both were incorrect for a Mustang. Even though James inspected the parts, he had what the list said he should.
*Monday morning QB is that "if I had JDM do the install, they wouldve been better suited to handle this and recognized the issue sooner." BUT thats not what I decided to do :)

Thank you - I wasnt aware of the Whipple QC issues but certainly am now. They have been helpful in fixing their errors, but the errors shouldnt be happening when you represent "bolt on" kits.

I was charged extra for the disassembly of the head unit, the SC oil and few minor items. Im asking for reimbursement since it was clearly their (Whipple) error.

I donā€™t know why u need a tank.I guess for extra capacity in the system. It does seem the tanks smaller then the mustang Tank.

I did a whipple install on a 2009 Gt a few year ago and their air intake was a new closed box. if I remember correctly, it was a modified 2010 factory lid. And it would not bolt on because the 2009 mustangs ABS is right in the way. they wanted me to bend the line on the abs(no way). I had them sell me the old whipple open element intake at $400, but besides that issue, the kit went together nice.I hope when I get a whipple for the Mach 1 they fix this tank issue.
