I'm hoping that's the case and they honor the 4% under invoice at the price I was quoted back in January. I just emailed them to ask. Not a dealbreaker if they won't price protect but a bit of a bummer still. I've heard a lot of good things about them on here so I was surprised at the couple very negative reviews I've seen posted on here recently.

Also by the rebate, he meant that Ford price protects orders made before price increases and will give dealers a rebate (which should be passed onto the customer, but isn't always)
I asked them about this as I have an order at Chapman as well. They will honor the 4% on the price of the vehicle when they get it. In other words all the increases since you ordered apply.

EDIT - from the email
*the POC/DORA may not be the final invoice price & only an estimate…Ford/Stellantis occasionally has price increases during the course of production…once the vehicle is produced, we will be invoiced from Ford/Stellantis…we will provide you a copy of the invoice & honor our pricing discount (ie % under invoice/$ off MSRP) in this email thread off based on what Ford/Stellantis invoices us at time the vehicle is produced.*

IN OTHER WORDS THEY WILL KEEP ANY AND ALL REIMBURSMENT FROM FORD.

which is to say they are going to pocket the price difference between when you ordered and today's price. That's their prerogative, but it leaves a bitter aftertaste.

do we know if there is a price increase after order if the dealer also pays more for that car??
Sounds to me that their cost is higher? Who says they get reiembursed ?

Ford. The price of the car TO YOU is when the order is placed and accepted. NOT when it's produced or delivered. This has been SOP for a long time. Chapman is apparently willing to burn it's good will, for a quick $3000? Talk about dumb.

Ok, so then the dealer should know you know and do the right thing.
An educated consumer is the best customer !!
Oh they know I found them through Mustang6g and I pointed out in my email to them that Granger and other dealerships on here are honoring price protections :)

Probably won't change anything but still, worth a shot lol. If they don't price protect and i end up buying another Ford in the future, then I will just be ordering from Granger or somewhere else next time.

sure, no reason for them not to price protect if it doesn t cost them. With chapman and no deposit required you can order and if the price goes up you can pass.
Grainger was also 1% more and you need a depo..

The original post from October by Grainger listed the HP at $3750. I received a quote from Grainger on 2/14 and the DORA had certain pricing for the HP at $4000. I was advised the price went up...Figured $250 bucks no big deal.
The following day (2/15) I received a quote from Chapman where the HP was $4500. I questioned it and was told "we are seeing price increases from Ford in the last day..."

EDITED for accuracy

Yeah, I think the doc fee is notably higher with Chapman if i recall correctly, so they are kinda close in final price. I might've ordered from Granger if I'd known price increases were coming honestly, would have ended up saving me a couple thousand in the end.

Price protecting shouldn't cost Chapman anything, it's just them taking extra profit under the table and blaming Ford and inflation for it.

If it was a normal market where you could get a car in 6-8 weeks from ordering and I hadn't already waited 6+ months for this car, then I'd consider walking. But it's been such a long wait and a pain in the ass that I probably won't.

Just heard back, Chapman does not honor price protection but they are honoring the % under invoice I was quoted at during time of order. So my OTD price is likely going to be $58k instead of the $55k I had budgeted, bleh.

Now i'm wondering if I can get more for my current Mustang from a local dealer vs Carvana since there's like nothing in the way of inventory around here and the market has only gotten worse lately.

Stop quoting this as "not honoring price protection". The cost to them is the exact same. They are openly admitting to you that they will steal the reimbursement. This is what has to be spread as many consumers may blame Ford and not the dealers.

Yeah, unfortunately my only options at this point are to either give up on the Mach 1 entirely and try to nab a GR86 at MSRP OR just pay the extra $3k and deal with it.

Gotta love car dealers knowing they got you by the balls and there's nothing you can do about it.
